Xbox Live Purchases - Family group

Hi all,

Total newbie parent here on Xbox., frustrating the hell out of me.

I have 2 sons under my family group, using Xbox Digital Console. Under my account I just purchased Xbox Live Gold (NZ$12.95 per month).

If they are on under my "family" on the same Xbox, shouldn't they now have access to Xbox Live Gold benefits?

How do open this up to allow them access to Xbox Live Gold? I don't want to pay for each of them each month - seem crazy to do that.

Any advice appreciated.

you need to sign in with your profile and set the Xbox as your Home.

this will share your Live Gold and digital game with your sons.

I highly doubt you would be "breaking the terms of use" since on the family pack website it clearly doesn't state "No, you would be braking the terms of use." as the answer.

Q: Could a group of friends or roommates share an Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack?

A: The Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack is really designed for families. Only the primary account holder may make purchases against their own billing account, which is designed to help families better manage their entertainment budget. The primary account holder
will also receive Activity Monitoring reports, and have the ability to access online Family Settings for other members in the Family Pack. As a result, the Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack may not work well for groups of friends or roommates.

Also according to their FAQ as well, people won't be considered as children if their profile doesn't state so.

Q: How do you determine who the primary account owner, adults, and kids are in a Family Pack?

A: The primary account holder will be the person who purchases or activates the Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, likely a main caregiver. Please note that the Family Pack can only be purchased by adults over the legal billing age in their region (18+ in most
regions). When the primary account holder first sets up each family member’s Xbox LIVE Gold account,
intelligent default privacy and activity settings are applied to each profile based on the person’s age: child (13 and under in the US), teen (13-18), or adult (18+ in the US).

About your purchases, if you are on a family group, your parents can be notified about your purchases. But they should not be seeing your newsletter.

Do you have a child (-18) account? Keep in mind changing your Microsoft account birthdate does not change your Xbox profile birthdate.

Thank you. Just in case, did the other family accounts also purchase Minecraft or is your account in the family group the only one that has purchased it?
