Xbox Live Profile stuck on offline

There's no joining of an offline profile and a Live profile just because they have the same name. You can still join Xbox Live from your offline profile with a different gamertag, or you can pay 800 Points on your current Live profile to change it
to another name and make the desired name available when promoting your offline profile to Live.

only one xbox live account can be connected to a specific Microsoft Account, so if you want to 'upgrade' an offline profile to a xbox live account you will need to use a Microsoft Account that doesn't have an xbox live account already connected.

So if you don't have an Microsoft Account without an Xbox live account connected you will need to create a new Microsoft Account if you want to 'upgrade' that offline profile.

If gamertag is an offline profile with no live ID then there is no way to access it other than guess the passcode.

The only way to change a passcode if you forget it is to delete the profile then redownload it but as you can't redownload an offline profile then as far as I know you are stuck.

You could try phoning support to see if they know any secret ways to get into a profile but I doubt they exist or people would know them already.

If you do manage to guess the passcode or get into the account somehow then it would be a good idea to convert the profile into a free xbox live account so that if something ever happens to it in the future you can download it again.

Did you try my suggestion of creating an offline profile, signing into that, loading up exo zombies then switching back to you Live profile when on the zombies title screen?

And when I say offline profile I don't mean an xbox live silver account that is taken offline. I mean an actual offline profile that is not signed up to Live at all.

A few things need to be clarified. Did you at any time either Delete an existing Xbox LIVE Account or use another console in which the Profile for Xbox LIVE was originally on? The Profile that you are trying to use on your Xbox 360,
is it an Xbox LIVE Profile or maybe an Offline (Local Storage only) Profile that you named after an existing Xbox LIVE Profile?

If it is just an Offline Profile (it will have a Silver "bar" along the top and state "Offline"), it is not an Xbox LIVE Profile. You will need to Recover an Exiting Xbox LIVE Profile or create a new one. For example, the Profile
you are using to Post from these Forums is an Xbox LIVE Profile. If you used the Recover Feature on your Xbox 360 Dashboard with the Email/ Password you Signed in with here, this Profile would then reside on your Xbox 360 Console.

To explain this a little different, I'll use my Profile "LostKauz". If I used an Xbox 360 that was new to myself, it would not have any Profile on it. If I Created an Offline Profile (it would only exist on that Local Storage Device) and called it "LostKauz"
it would not be my Online Xbox LIVE Profile of "LostKauz". It may share the GamerTag Name but that would be it. If I tried to Join Xbox LIVE with that Offline Profile of 'LostKauz" it would ask for an Email and Password, since it is not a real Xbox LIVE Profile.

In order for you to Recover your Xbox LIVE Profile you will need to know the Windows LIVE ID Associated with the Account/ Profile (Email and Password).
