Xbox Live Prepaid Code Didnt Register?

I had a frustrating experience with a prepaid live code that i basically lost the value of and wanted to know if anyone had any idea what may have happened:

I got a notification my live subscriptuon expired and the card on file was bad (expired). I bought a 12 month prepaid card on Amazon. I recieved it a few days after and entered it on my account through my xbox. It noted my subscription showed it was extended
12 months past the original date and not the date i had entered the prepaid code. Afterwords I still recieved emails about my card being expired.

Today, about one month later, my live account was suspended for non-payment. After talking with support, there is no record of my code being redeemed. They asked for the 25 digit code, but i threw it away after redeeming. Apparently without that, im completly
out of luck, but i dont know anyone who would keep them after redeeming.

I wanted to post here just to see if anyone has any idea what may have happened. Prepaid codes are cheaper than buying the subscription directly so i prefer to use them. I've redeemed codes many times before so its not like i would have redeemed it improperly.
Ive never had a reason to distrust a code system, but losing $50 without a cause is very upsetting. Any ideas on what may have happened would be appreciated.

Not sure how in 2016, you don't use debit or credit cards but that's just me.

Anyway, could someone else confirm if using prepaid VISAs work or not? You could always go to gamestop or bestbuy, use your prepaid VISA card on a subscription xbox live card. That should work. Perhaps order a digital code on amazon with your prepaid VISA. I'm pretty sure they accept it.

Doesn't trust banks or credit card companies. Tries to use their pre-paid cards.

I fear for this person's future when they try to buy a house with no credit. Maybe they are rich and will just buy it out right with their mattress money.

As for a solution to your problem, use your prepaid card from a company you don't trust to buy a 12-month or 3-month Xbox Live Gold card from the store.

 

Since your card had expired and they weren't able to charge your account, you would have had a balance you had to pay off before you could add the prepaid card. So the system shouldn't have allowed you to add a prepaid card until you added a new card to
take care of the balance first.
