Xbox live PBEM support please

I really wish microsoft would incorporate PBEM services in they're Xbox live service. The feature would be realatively cheap and easy to maintain.

For those of you who don't know what PBEM is it stand for play by email. Or in Xbox live space. Play by message. Basically imagine playing a strategy game like a turn based game or a board game like chess with someone. But since these kind of games can take
many hours what if you didn't need to both be logged on to play. Say you make a move with your tank or queen. The game would then send a message to your opponent. The next time they log on the game would read this message and update the playing field to reflect
your move. Then you could make your countermove and send your own message. This tech is old school and was a dominate multiplayer function in the 80s and 90s. But today's tech could easily allow you to move seamlessly from real-time conectivity to PBEM.

The benefits would be astounding. First there would be an astounding boost in quality to board games playability on Xbox live arcade. As well as niche genres like turn based strategy games finding renewed vigor.

Microsoft has often struggled in the Japanese market and a lot of the games they like to play are ripe for this type of setup. plus you get the old school PC gamers who would finally find interesting in they're console and the added bonus of having that
console around for thier kids to use.

Anyone who remembers great games like shattered union or dai senryuku on the original Xbox can surely imagine what a feature like this could bring to the table. And the bottom line is it would be so cheap to implement that the rewards for the type of non
mainstream titles it would bring to the console would be well worth the effort

Microsoft stop supporting 360 LIVE?

So I've heard multiple rumors about Microsoft stopping their support for the Xbox 360 and Xbox live for it. I want to know if that's true.

Also, if it's true, what does it mean? Will digitally downloaded games from the marketplace still be playable? Because I own many downloaded games, and I don't want to lose them if the 360 support shuts down. Someone please help?
