  1. Xbox live payment help and family settings

    Hi,

ive just purchased an xbox one, having a 360 previously.

Ive transferred my account and also added my son through the family settings.

I was under the impression as its a “family” account that a xbox subscribtion falls under the family bubble and we can both use it and pay only once?

Just checking as ive been charged twice.

    TIA

    RICH

    :)

    Payment option problems.

When I try to sign into my xbox live account, it tells me to update my payment option. I do so, and it tells me that I have 0 friends, 0 recent players, 0 messages, and that Xbox live parties are blocked. I try to add my friends back and it says I can't
due to family settings. I go to family settings to change them, and it says they are the same they used to be (adult). I am very confused because I was just playing last night. When I log in it tells me that I am suspended until I update my payment option
but even after I do so it stays the same. Please help.

How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

    Overview

You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

    Steps to Follow

Add or change a payment option using your console

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

    2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

    3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:
    • If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.
    • If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.
    4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

    1) Go to My Account.

    2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

    3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

    4) Proceed to do either of the following:

If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:
    • Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information
    • Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

With the Ones you only need to have One subscription on One of the accounts and have the console set as that profiles Home console and any other profile on that console can use the any subscription and play any digital games that profile owns.

Here is some links that may help you understand it better and get it setup.

This one tells you about the feature:

Xbox Live Gold Sharing Features on Xbox One | Xbox Live Gold

This one tells you how to set it up:

My Home Xbox Setting on Xbox One | Share Your Xbox One

If you where charged multiple times whichever account you do not want to keep the subscription on you would need to go to account.live.com and sign in there and cancel that subscription so you dont keep getting charged for it.

    Hi there,

One account can share the Gold features via the Home console setting, which will allow other profiles to use Gold features if the account that has set the console as Home console has a Gold subscription, please see this link for more information:

    https://support.xbox.com/games/game-setup/my-home-xbox

So it works different from your impression, but should still be an option for you to use 1 Gold subscription.

Regarding the now two gold subscriptions, you may want to cancel the one that might not be needed via the steps mentioned here

    Richard,

We at Microsoft are glad that our ambassadors were able to help with adequate information. Our family settings are meant for you to have a way to set limitations to whoever your children are in the family. Our home Xbox feature is an awesome way to share
what one account has, to all the other accounts on the Xbox. Now there are some restrictions on some downloadable content. It does depend on the game developer of the game your sharing so please consult game developers if you want to know if that particular
INGAME content will share over. Have a great day!

    Happy gaming!

You can only share gold on the console that is set as your Home. So with your current set up, your son would only be able to access gold while he is using your console or you are signed into his. You would need to set his console as your Home in order
for him to access the gold on his console without you needing to be signed in.

No. You can only have 1 console set as your Home at a time. You will still be able to sign into gold on your console because it is attached to your account. The Home setting is what allows your son to access the gold so it would need to be on his console
    so he can access it.
