So for a few days now I'm getting the error code 0x89234020 whenever I try to get a party going with my one friend. It's only with him that the issue shows up and I can't seem to find a solution to this specific error code anywhere.

    Xbox Live Party Issues

    Hey Plastic,

I'm sorry to hear about this issue being experienced with party connectivity to your one friend. Usually when there is party issues being experienced by just two accounts only means there is compatibility issues with each other's network NAT types. NAT is
a network protocol that allows networks to communicate with each other over the Xbox Live servers in a secure domain. If either parties NAT type changes from OPEN to something else, there may be some disconnection. I would suggest for both of you to check
your NAT types located under your Network Settings, make sure they say OPEN. There is an active service alert affecting multiple Xbox Live services currently so it may be related.

Do you receive that error immediately or after it tries to connect for a while?

Does it happen no matter who the host of the party is?

Let us know so we can further assist you!

  5. Both of us are OPEN Nat every time. The error code happens either right away or after a few seconds.

    Hey Plastic,

Ok, is there an error message that accompanies the error code? That code is not specific and does not have any support articles related to it.

Also I want to doublecheck, the issue only happens with one individual, correct? Party chat works fine with other friends? Have you tried chatting in the game voice chat and not the Xbox Live parties?

Have both of you troubleshooted your networks? Unplug both routers and modem for at least 5 minutes. After that, both of you

    power cycle
    the Xbox.

  7. No there's not another error code. Both of us have done resets on our modems/routers multiple times. All statistics are good on our networks and are open nat.

That's what I find very odd is how there isn't that error code anywhere to be found anywhere. Which is why I'm here hoping to find some answers.

Everything works fine when we're with our other friends, but when it's just us two it has that issue.

    Xbox Live Party Issues

    Hey Plastic,

That's a very odd issue. I would suggest to try this out. This is just troubleshooting and by no means is a guaranteed fix, but I want to try and help.

First remove this person from your friend's list. Once you do that, remove your account from your Xbox. Make sure before you do that you know your email and password for your account. Then

    power cycle
your Xbox. Once it's back online, re-add your profile, your data will download, then send a friend request to the friend the party issues are being experienced with and then start another party.

This should re-establish your account data from Xbox Live to your Xbox and restore the friendship status of your friend. Try that out and let us know how it goes.
