    Xbox live on two consoles?

    A few questions...

I currently two accounts on my Xbox One - one for me and my son as a "family member." Since he has basically taken over my console, if I buy another Xbox One, do I need to separate the accounts? Can we BOTH use one Xbox live account for both consoles (same
house)? Can it be used at the same time or do we need to alternate? I'm just not sure how the sharing works, I guess.

... a separate question - Is it easy to do? I remember setting up an account for my son being a PAIN IN THE [Mod removed- profanity]!! Microsoft makes everything a pain anymore!

Thanks for the help Xbox live on two consoles? :)

    :)

If you have gold on your account, gold will follow you to whatever console you're using. If you're trying to share it with other people, you'd need to set one of the consoles as your Home console and they can access the gold from that console. If you're
trying to share with multiple people and they'll be switching between the 2 consoles too, you'll need at least 1 other gold subscription so the second console can be set as their Home console.

you can not log into the same account at the same time on two xbox one consoles so he will need his own gamer tag to play at the same time as you, but you do not need to repurchase any digitally owned games. when you purchase a new xbox and set it up you
will have to sign in using the profile that owns the game and make that you home xbox and it will allow you to download all the games that you digitally own to that xbox. You will still be able to log into the original xbox with your gamer tag and play your
games while you son will have access to the games that are downloaded to the new xbox. you can only switch you "home" xbox 3 times so don't make a habit of switching which one is the home xbox.

    Thank you...

My son already has a gamertag, but it's attached to my account as a family member. You're saying I need to remove him and give him a separate account? Will that require another xbox live account?

No. Unless you're sharing the same gamertag, you would not have to create a new account for him or remove him from your family. If you are using the same gamertag, then you would need to create a new account for him or you. Each gamertag is considered
    a separate account.

    Hey there, Grizwulf!

    We have this setting called
    My Home Xbox
through which you can set up an Xbox Live and any digitally downloaded games to be shared from one gamertag to any account on the console you set it on. This feature can only be used to share with one console.

What most people do if they have two consoles, is enable home sharing on the console that everyone is going to be using aside from the person who is paying for Gold. I posted a link that should have all the info on how that works above.

Give that link a look through and let us know if that clears things up a little bit.

    Thanks!

    Hi

As stated you need two separate subscriptions. You can add them into a family account and manage things there. That way you can even set time limits and content restrictions as well

I would recommend that you get them their own subscription to Xbox Gold. That way if they have friends over they don't have to worry about not having Gold if a friend logs on in order to play a game your son doesn't own. It will make things easier for both
of them and doesn't require the others account to be on their Xbox. They can still share games at any time should they so desire.

You will have to gameshare as mentioned by the others.

    Hey johnmoore1967,

You can utilize the "Home" feature provided by Xbox to share games and Xbox Live gold with other players on that "Home" console.

Basically, the account that is registered with the
Xbox Live Gold Subscription and purchases games should set the other console as their "Home". This enables the other player to access their game as well as receive Xbox Live Gold benefits.

However, keep in mind that if you switch your "Home" Xbox to another one, the other account on the previous Xbox will no longer have gold or access to all the games.

If you want to avoid any potential conflict in the future, the more expensive option is to buy both accounts gold as well as purchase games separately for each child. That too is an option.

    Best,

    Nozzle :)
