Xbox Live on PC - can't sign in

Using the Xbox app on PC, I cannot sign in to my account. I get error code 0x8004888.
These are things I have tried:
-signing out and removing my Microsoft account from my PC, then signing back in
-deleting both the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store app, and reinstalling them

-making sure both apps are updated

-clearing the Xbox cache, and ending Xbox services on my PC

Any help would be appreciated as I cannot play any games online. I can still download updates for my games though so the internet connection is fine

I don't have any idea what else to try. I can't find any information about that error code

I did as directed above, still no change. I can't even find the error code I receive on the internet. The closest thing to it seems to be error code error code 0x800488FC, which states that the Xbox Live servers are down. Which I know isn't the case

Unfortunately no success with that either, I used 2 different wireless networks and an Ethernet connection, no change

Try to sign in using a different network. A phone's hotspot will suffice
