Xbox live on 2 consoles in the same house?!

You can only set once console as your Home at a time. So if you have the gold on your account, you would need to set the 2nd One as your Home so your wife can share your gold. You would then be able to sign into the One in the living room and continue using
the One as it's tied to your account.

If the gold is on your wife's account, then you would do the opposite and set the living room console as her Home.

Oh, forgot to mention that when I do the test xbox live connection I can connect to internet, but not Xbox live.

You could either buy Gold on 2 accounts or buy it on your son's account. You can only share on 1 console at a time. You would have to set your son's console as your Home in order to share your Gold with him so you can sign into the other console and play.
However, that would make it so anyone else in your family is no longer able to access your Gold.

Or if buy Gold on your son's account, he can set the One S as his Home in order to keep sharing on that console and he can sign in on his console and still use Gold.

I’ve got Fortnite working at last , had both accounts signed in after I realised I logged out the other on both Xbox’s it worked.

With vanguard if I by another disk so each Xbox has a disc would that work
