XBOX Live Notifications - Friends online etc

Is there a way to ensure my notifications are turned on? For instance, when I am playing a game and a friend comes online it doesn't notify me that they are there or when a friend has started to play the same game as me. This worked well on 360 and made
it easy to see instantly who was online playing the game I wanted to play so I could party up. Is this not a feature on the xbox one?

Friend online notifications?

I'd be interested to know how this works actually. Does it only work for favourites? I can understand why they turned it off by default for friends now you can have 1000 (you'd have a notification every five seconds), but I don't remember seeing one at all now.

They've removed that feature I believe. Does seem a bit silly, but I guess it's due to the increase in the number of friends. As @Munkey Boy said, ideally you could set X amount of favourites and have notifications for just those.

Seems to be quite a lot of people unhappy with them taking this out, so hopefully they'll put it back in at a later date

I have same problem, I don't receive any notification (achievements, messages, friends invites, friends online, etc.)

All notification turned on, hard reset, clear cache, factory defaults didn't work

I'm not getting any notifications for friends coming online either, messages, party invites etc. all show up though.

They should have this. We get a notification when we receive a txt message from a friend regardless if on a 360 or 1, so the same should apply for friend notifications. Especially friends who we add to our favourites list. 360 and 1 do run on "Xbox Live"
so we should have the ability to receive such notifications without having to search up the friend to see their online status whether they're online on not.

Same thing happening right now. Notifications for friends inviting me, messaging me etc. work fine, just when my friends go online is where i am having a problem...
