Xbox live microphone issue

Hello

My son is trying to use his phone as his microphone in a party, he plays on the Xbox one, and connects his iphone through xbox app, he can join the party, the microphone says its working but no one can hear him, ive tried everything. Any one have any idea
why its not working? He’s autistic and currently getting angry that i cant fix it! His phone allows microphone access, the chat states hes joined in voice but no actual sound! Thank you

It is possible that there is an issue with your microphone or headset, or it could be a problem with the Xbox Live service. It's unlikely that changing your email would have caused this issue.

Is the microphone socket on your controller blocked by anything or has a previous wired microphone lead snapped while in the controller? The reason I ask this is because any wired microphone will not let a wireless microphone connect to the controllers player
number. If it looks clear, start up an Xbox Live party and check if it says a microphone is connected without turning on your wireless microphone, if it says a microphone is connected then there's the issue. If it's possible I would return it to the retailer
you bought it from for an exchange.

The only things I can think of are privacy settings, or see if he is muted by clicking on his name in party chat.

When he is in the party does the mic symbol appear in the top left when you pull the lock screen down from the top of the screen?

Are you able to turn off your wireless microphone and sign out of your XBOX Live account (physically disconnect it from the internet) and then try to turn on the wireless microphone and see if the XBOX 360 still freezes even when pairing. I'm just interested
to know if this is being caused by some sort of issue with being online and playing or if this occurs both online and offline.
