Xbox Live Membership

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this and help me...now lets get down to brass tacks.

So I'm still an Xbox 360 member, and I've recently set up a gamertag for herself. I set it up, and then I tried to get her the 1 month free trial membership, and it was a no go. No matter what I did, where I went, what settings I changed, I couldn't do it.
Online via Xbox.com, I could see the free trial, but could never get it due to the account not being set up to purchase things, (despite the fact that I HAD changed it so she could), but on the Xbox 360, there was NEVER the option for her to sign up for an
Xbox 1 month free trial. I spoke with support on the phone, and they didn't know why this was happening and kept stating that it should show up on the console, and also that I needed to change purchasing rights, (even though I had), in order to get it via
Xbox.com. Long story short, I said **** it, and just bought her a 12 month subscription and no we play together, YAY!!!!

Fast forward a few more days, and now I see Xbox One is getting backwards compatibility! There's a nicely priced Holiday Bundle! Plus if you buy a bundle you can choose a free game to go with it!!!! Boom...I now have an Xbox One on it's way to me! So then
I'm reading how Xbox One does "Family" Xbox Live, and now I'm like, FUDGE! I could have just saved that 12 month subscription code, waited to convert us to Xbox One, and then put her under me, and then I'd have 12 additional months on my main account! Sweet
right?

So this is were you come in, am I going to get shafted when I transfer over to the Xbox One next week and lose the 11 months and like 2 weeks that will be left on her Xbox live subscription because she is now going to be under me? Or will her remaining time
get added onto my account? Or can I get it transferred over onto my account? I'd hate to find out that I'm practically going to have just flushed $60 down the toilet. :*(

:)

No worries. If you are keeping the 360 up and running then her membership will continue on for the rest of the time but it will not be added to yours on the Xbox One.

There was a time when phone support was taking requests to have extra time on Gold memberships refunded but I don't think they are doing that anymore. However, if the purchase was made recently and online instead of a code purchased from a store you may
be able to get a refund. If you call phone support you can discuss possibilities with them.

If you live in North America dial 1-800-469-9269

That really wouldn't matter anyways, because if it's a family membership, then she should still be able to go on the 360 and use it because she'd be covered by the GOLD of the family account.

So you're saying I'm pretty much ***? I guess I'll have to call support...

Sigh. So typical Xbox bullstuff. If you have gold, you should have gold, no matter your console.

So if she goes to a friends house that has an Xbox One, she wouldn't have gold status because she only has it on *MY* Xbox One console? Or she would because family sharing is limited to Xbox One consoles period?

9. She would have Gold privileges if another account on that friend's console has Gold and is either logged in or is sharing it with that console. She would not be able to share your Gold membership there.

Ok, I think we're getting a little mixed up here.

Right now your daughter has a Gold membership and it will follow her until it runs out no matter what console she plays on.

When her membership runs out and you add her to your family to share your membership she will have it on that console only and it will not follow her to others. This is because technically she doesn't actually have a Gold membership. She can enjoy the
benefits of the membership while she is on your console but that's it.

So...pretty much she's going to need her own Gold membership regardless, and the "family sharing" is mostly a sham? She technically won't have gold status, and will only be able to ride the coat tails of my gold status when she's on my console.

She's already linked in as "My Family" and my above question was in regards to when her gold status would run out.

And this is exactly why I left 3ish years ago when they got rid of the Family Membership and I got shafted. Thanks for your time and your answers.

How does not having xbox live affect Achievements?
... and just add a Live card to it
Do you mean an Xbox LIVE Gold membership card? If so, this is not required. An Xbox LIVE Free membership will keep all Achievements earned, a "premium" membership is not required with this.

Hey mate, I found this on the FAQ:

I renewed my Xbox Live Gold membership and I didn't get my Rewards Credits. Why?

renew your Xbox Live Gold membership, you will be ineligible for this offer.
