Question, I have been an Xbox Live user for over 10 years on Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I have multiple Xbox Ones in my household for my children to play on as well, I made the console in our Family room the Home Xbox so they can play the content that
I have purchased with my account. My son has recently wanted to start playing online games under his Xbox account and wanted to make sure that he could do so without actually having to purchase a Xbox Live membership for him, currently he wants me to continue
playing games on my separate console in my office against him online. I remember that Microsoft used to have the Xbox Family Live membership but that doesn't seem to exist any longer. Can anyone provide me guidance?

In order for him to play online without purchasing a separate subscription, he would have to play on your Home console. If he's trying to play on different consoles, he would need his own susbcription.

Do you mean an Xbox LIVE Gold membership card? If so, this is not required. An Xbox LIVE Free membership will keep all Achievements earned, a "premium" membership is not required with this.

To play online multiplayer games you always need a paid membership in xbox live. For more info:

I renewed my Xbox Live Gold membership and I didn't get my Rewards Credits. Why?

Credits for renewing your Xbox Live Gold membership will appear on your MyRewards page within 2 days of your current Xbox Live Gold membership ending and the new one beginning. In addition, if you allow your Xbox Live Gold membership to expire before you
renew your Xbox Live Gold membership, you will be ineligible for this offer.

Xbox Live trial memberships can only be redeemed if you do not have an existing Xbox Live Gold membership. You can redeem a trial code once your current membership has expired.
