Xbox live membership not working

I guys i Just purchased Xbox 360 and started it up everything was well then i used my Xbox live code which was already in Xbox's box free it was not a trial so i used it up but when i tried to get a free game via Xbox the one with you find in Xbox games
with gold.The game was of 20$ around but it was written free for live members but when I try to get my hands on it it says its 20$ I need some help

I live in India and Xbox live works there (or here)with all features

I have a perfect setup account for Xbox i had a Microsoft account earlier and i used it for Xbox so i did not got membership trial

I did not used trial as it wasn't offered to me i used the one which i got free with my Xbox its not trial

Guys please reply fast i activated my membership just at 1st of month

Sorry but the card you got in the box is a trial,it's not a full gold membership,which you would need to download any gwg.

Trials only give limited access to some gold features

Just to add to above if you already have an Xbox Live gold membership then the trial code will not work until your current live membership expires. Once your membership arrives the code should then work.

sharing Xbox live gold membership only works on the Xbox One. unfortunately on Xbox Live, everyone will need a gold membership to be able to talk to each other and play games together.

i think this applies to everyone who is already in the family membership not someone who transfers regions

if you had created the family membership and not added someone this may apply you will have to contact support as this is a new tool
