Xbox live membership compatibility

I have an old 1 year Xbox 360 gold membership code (unused), will I be able to use this code with an Xbox one console?

Backwards compatibility is going to be deemed a success or failure depending on the publishers..

i actually thought they should have made Xbox Live Gold membership the sole requirements to using Backwards Compat

Sorry to hear it. Do you have your own Xbox Live membership or are you sharing from another account? A shared membership does not follow you to a Backwards Compatible title. You would need to purchase your own if this is the case.

Your Xbox Live gold membership, gamertag, achievements and entertainment purchases (movies and music) will carry over to your Xbox One, purchases in the XBLA will not carry over because the Xbox One is not backwards compatible.

It's always good to read the fine print.

Compatible devices and internet required; ISP fees apply. On Xbox 360, Xbox Music Pass is streaming only and also requires an Xbox LIVE Gold membership (both sold separately).

You don't need an Xbox LIVE Gold membership in order to listen to music with the music pass on a Windows Phone, Surface Tablet, or on Windows 8. You will however, need it for the console.
