  1. Xbox Live Membership cards and Walmart...

I'm not sure this is the right forum to post it in, but please, for your own sanity, do
NOT purchase any membership cards from Walmart. Go to a GameStop or possibly
ANYWHERE ELSE other than Walmart. I've visited my local
Walmart three times already, and they haven't figured out how to activate the card. I will be returning to the store, for the fourth time, to try and get this card activated or at least get a refund. Before I do, I'd really appreciate a third party's
thoughts on this. Desperate for some answers or any kind of information on what to do.

    :)

does your account region match your actual region if not that's probably why

Prepaid subscription codes are region specific

Keep and eye on the cards as they're being rung up and watch your receipt after checkout. Anytime you buy any type of gift card at Walmart they run through an authorization process during checkout (I used to work there). If you see a little receipt print
out before you've finished checking out and the cashier just throws it away, then it probably didn't authorize and they're just not checking the message on their screen. Otherwise, you should see an authorization message on your receipt after you check out
and that would mean that your card has been activated. Keep in mind though that in some cases, it can take up to 24 hours for a card to become fully activated. If it's been longer than that, you'll want to contact support. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada
or Contact Us | Xbox Support

  7. I'll have to contact the number you recommended to me then. As I've stated, I've had to return to Walmart three times already to try and settle this. The first time there was a small slip that did print, and that was the reason I went back to the cashier
to make sure everything was working. the next two times, I can't remember if it had printed those last two times, although the receipt does look slightly different from the first time, and they keep pointing at it as if that's the proof it worked. During all
three times I have actually contacted Microsoft's tech support right after the first incident, which after speaking to microsoft, they gave me another number to contact. I contacted that number and I tried to explain everything but they insisted it was a Walmart
issue. This has actually been ongoing for a month, so I don't think 24 hour thing is an issue. I've been trying to get this settled with the spare time I have, so I usually can't go back until a week later. I refuse to lose sixty dollars without getting what
I paid for, and the walmart employees keep refusing to help me. I had to get two separate managers to try and at least do something, because the first one didn't even bother to listen. I really can't tell if it is an issue Microsoft can fix, but I wanted to
post in the forums to see if anything could come of it. If it's purely a Walmart issue, I have no clue on what to do. At my local Walmart specifically, the employees don't know what they're doing (they have stated this to me) and the managers
are unwilling to help or acknowledge the problem. I've been a manager, a cashier, an employee, etc. to several large retail chains, so I understand what they're all going through, but I still don't find it an excuse for this. My original post was a little
heated, so I want to clarify that my specific local Walmart is an issue. I don't mean to offend anyone reading this. My intensions were to inform/warn and also receive any feedback.

  8. Xbox Live Membership cards and Walmart...

    Hey there, Dan!

I'm incredibly sorry to see any frustrations with purchasing prepaid cards! While this isn't a support issue, we do appreciate you warning other users to potential problematic situations with a retailer you've had experience with. In case you didn't know,
we do have a way to purchase prepaid cards through the
Microsoft Store, and this could save the hassle of needing the card activated since we can send you a digital code. Xbox Live Membership cards and Walmart... :)

(Note: that site link might need to be opened in a browser that isn't Chrome. It might look broken if you open it in Chrome.)

If you need assistance with any support issues, be sure to post up a new detailed thread so that our community can work on helping you out, like our Ambassadors Smwutches and ngocphi did here. Thanks for understanding!
