343 Definitely host and manages the servers for Reach. They've stated there has been issues lately, which I'm guessing has a lot to due with the age of the game (it's 9 years old).

It's possible the Halo Reach servers are just temporarily down or having issues. I'm not sure if 343 Industries maintains the servers for this game since they didn't technically develop this game, but I can't find anything online confirming this. I recommend
doing the basic console and network troubleshooting just to rule out those factors as the cause of the issue.

Unplug your network devices from the power outlet for about 5 minutes. Go ahead and do a

hard reset and power cycle on the Xbox. Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then
re-connect and turn on the Xbox. Reconnect your network devices and make sure you are connected to Xbox Live.

The exact message is "We had to abort Matchmaking due to networking difficulties, please try again later" --- so this latest outage is ongoing for almost 24 hours.

Xbox Live services are all up and running right now. Can you further explain what matchmaking errors you get or any error messages? Is this specifically only for Halo Reach?

I recommend going into your Network settings and run the troubleshooting tests in the right column.

Your best option would be to reach out the developer (343 Studios) regarding any issues with matchmaking and/or multiplayer. They are the ones who would be able to address the problem.
