Xbox live - mail address links

Hi all, I’m looking for advice and a solution to what I feel is a complicated situation…

My son has an Xbox live account which is based on my outlook address. He changed to PSN a few years ago and I built a pc. I obviously have my mail address linked to all games I play and windows on my pc is based on that same account.

I have linked my mail address to epic games account. My sons epic games account is linked to his Xbox live account, which is linked to my mail account, however his epic account is linked to another mail account, a gmail account which I created for him when he switch to PSN.

My son is getting a new gen Xbox for his birthday. So, I thought I’ll set it up ready and download his fav games before his birthday so it’s ready to plug and play when he opens it. Cue me scratching my head right now! Questions;

1. Do I create a new Xbox live account and sign in with that?

2. If I do that can I just log into his fortnite account as usual as it’s set up to a gmail account. It is linked via epic ‘linked accounts’ to his old Xbox live account, which is linked to my current outlook address. (Epic states that, if you unlink an Xbox live account, you can’t link another one).

3. If all of the above is successful, if he plays on his Xbox am I going to locked out of epic on my pc because of the linked accounts?

I am not sure why Microsoft make things so bloody complicated tbh. I wish I hadn’t used my own mail account for my sons fist Xbox years ago, however you don’t know what you don’t know… right? Hindsight is a wonderful thing! He was 8 when he got his first xbox and I just didn’t think about him having his own mail address tbh.

Anyway, any thoughts, advice or solutions welcome.
