    xbox live latency issues

Due to xbox live having as many problems as it has, I find myself constantly having to check my network status - which of course always shows there is a problem with xbox live. However, I have been looking at my detailed network stats recently and have noticed
that I seem to be having latency issues. I understand that some latency is to be expected but 169ms seems to be a bit high and does definitely act as a hindrance when gaming. The problem could at my end of the connection, but I doubt it as I run a 72mb fibre-optic
connection and a 7mb upload speed. Due to all the problems on xbox live lately and from other forum posts I have read, I'm starting to think that there is a problem with xbox live.

Is there anything that I can do to try and reduce my latency? Or am I doomed to wait on xbox live actualy functioning properly?

    :)

Really high latency on wired connection on xbox one.

It looks like my latency has skyrocketed again, but I'm not sure if the current issues with the xbox live servers have made the latency increase again.

@pure sorry to hear that is been such a pain in the *** ! , but lets debunk a lot of the myths that come with networking

I'm glad you have such a great connection , but keep in mind that your experience on your xbox will 95% of the time will be shaped based on your setup (whether its wired or wireless , I Personally always recommend a wired connection if your set up allows
it) and or networking hardware limitations

if you really want to improve your latency without having to deal with your isp and getting the run around their try a wired connection , if you cant

do under stand that on wireless , wireless interference can happen/will always happen thus will always add to your latency

always keep in mind your xbox is like a student in class and the teacher is your connection, if you in a large class room and your setting way in the back your latency goes up because of the delay between what your hearing and how the information is being
interpreted. but if your closer then the better off your going to be, (again being to close also isn't good either) but if a wall is front of of coarse its gonna cut the line of sight

again ! I've been there an know whole heartily how much this sucks but their is logical reason why this happens and finding out what the root cause does take some time to figure it out

needless to say I'm sorry again this is happening but I highly recommend trying to either improve the line of site (getting closer to your network ) or getting on a wired connection .

let me know if this helps :cD

    Thanks for the reply Jaerowinaus!

I never run a wireless connection as I don't believe wireless is reliable. My xbox is and always has been hardwired to the internet. Both my xbox and modem/super hub are in the same room. I am the only person to use this connection so there are no problems
with others using the same connection as myself or hogging download speed. I have contacted my ISP and they have told me that my network should not experience problems as their internet exchange is right outside my house.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

    @purebelter

honestly other then restarting the network hardware and maybe just maybe setting up your xbox into a dmz, its gonna be a tough one to narrow down but lets take another stab at it

but lets start off with first getting some info on the networking hardware

like do you have a gateway? or router and modem ?

    xbox live latency issues

    Hey Jaerowinaus,

restarting my hardware doesn't affect the latency. My xbox one plugs directly into my virgin media super-hub router which is provided by my ISP. That is it. My internet connection comes straight from the super-hub. There are no extra modems, routers or
hardware connected. 1 piece of hardware, 1 connection.

I have spoken to friends on xbox to ask if they have the same problem and at the moment, everyone I have spoken to have the same level latency which leads me to believe that this problem lies with xbox live itself.

There are know issues with the Super Hub device. Try this.

I've got an Xbox One connected to a Super Hub but can't play online

To play online games a default setting on your Super Hub needs to be changed. Please follow these instructions.

Note: If you’re running the Super Hub in modem mode, you don’t need to do a thing.

    1. Enter the Super Hub settings page address into your browser
    http://192.168.0.1

    2. Access the page by entering the default password changeme and usernameadmin. If you’ve changed the default security details to your own password and username, please enter those details.

    3. Click Advanced Settings. If you get a warning message, click Yes to continue.

    4. In the Security section, click Firewall.

    5. Tick the IP Sec Pass-Through box.

    6. Click Apply. When the confirmation box appears, click Yes.

    7. Click Sign out in the top right of the page.

    That’s it!

Now that you have made these configuration change try resetting all of your network devices. Power off the devices and leave them off for a few minutes.

Also, do a hard reset on the console. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
Once it is back up and operational test for results.

    Good Luck!

I live in Ireland and it just says Ireland when I do the test. I have 90mbps download and 20mbps upload on the computer and still a ping of 10ms.

The xbox1 is download of 215mbps and upload of 25mbps with the ping of 157ms.

I have tried the plugging my xbox out for 5 minutes and clearing the cache, where do i from here?
