Xbox live keeps prompting for update on 360

Turned on my 360 this morning and it was stuck on the splash screen - after awhile I received a message that something was corrupt. After a reboot, it came back with my internal storage not found. Plugged in a USB stick and proceeded to download several
updates. Now it seems to be stuck in a loop where I go to sign in to live, it prompts for an update, downloads something fast, reboots - and keeps being stuck in the loop. No error messages, no connectivity issues.

Games start fine, but once I need to go sign in to get my profile, it prompts again as above.

Do I need to reformat the stick and try all over again? Or with the internal storage corruption am I done for?

Can't buy xbox live with prepaid cards

I just bought $60 worth pf prepaid cards for the xbox store to use on redeeming my live account, but it keeps prompting that I need more funds. Live is currenrly on sale for ~$50 so I have more than enough, taxes in. Help?

XBox 360, no connection to Live, cannot update, cannot factory reset

I have an XBox 360 with a current Live account. It will not connect to our internet and keeps prompting an Update that cannot download. We have tried to factory reset and it does nothing. We have deleted every app. I've tried everything they suggest
on all the Help pages and we cannot get past the error. When we searched the error specific number, nothing is found. Help?

After testing some more - if I power off manually via the switch, coming back up it stays at the splash screen for a long time again, and then mentions corruption, reboots and back to the dashboard. Still get prompted for an update every time trying to
sign into xbox live, short download, reboot, back to dashboard - same state over and over.

Anything left to try or is this one need to be repaired/replaced (well out of warranty)

You dont have to keep restarting your console, you will be signed out of xbox live and prompted to download and install the new update

If there is a system update available you will be prompted for it as soon as you connect to Xbox LIVE. If aren't prompted for an update then you already are up to date.

Go through the disc troubleshooter
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/troubleshoot/hardware/disc-drive and if it is still not working then you are going to need to open a repair request.

Are your discs in good condition?

Are you connected to Xbox Live? In order for the games to work, you need to be connected to Live. When connected, inserting the disc should prompt an update. This 'update' as actually the repackaged Xbox 360 game. Without which the game can not be played.
