Xbox Live is extremely laggy and slow

I've been having some trouble over the past few days. My Xbox Live connection has always been fine, and I've played games with minimal lag (provided I choose specific servers, as I'm in South Africa) However in the last 3 days or so, my connection to Xbox
Live has become extremely slow. On startup, the Xbox takes about 2 minutes just to sign into Xbox Live.

Usually when I test the connection, the connection between internet and Xbox Live was very quick, it connected in about a second. Now while testing, that connection takes a good minute or so. Every server on every game has terrible lag, to the point where
I can't even move my character in Battlefield.

The connection is ok, as everything works at normal speed on my pc, but the xbox is increasingly slow with the connection to Live. Is there any way I can speed up the xbox? (I'm on capped internet, so not having to clear cache would be a big bonus, as it
would be a lot of updates to re-download)

I have a 1mb line, in case that matters to anyone. But I've never had problems like this before, and suddenly this has started.

Hey there Prowl! This thread is a little old (2011) so the Original Poster has probably moved on by now. But thanks for the suggestion! Maybe it will help someone else who comes along and finds this thread. ^_^

Your speeds seem good and your ping is great. Try a speed test at www.speedtest.net and a ping test at www.pingtest.net

From the speeds/ pings your posting you should have no problems playing online or loading a video. To narrow down your problem try shutting down your laptops/ desktops/ any other wireless device then go on live. If that fixes the problem, then its one
of your computers. Just turn one on at a time and play live until you find whats causing your problem.

Do you have a open NAT type?

If you haven't already, power off your network equipment (modem and router) for a couple of minutes. Power on your modem and wait one minute for it to connect properly. power on your router and wait another minute.

Browse to Xbox network settings and select Configure Network. Select the
Additional settings tab and select Restore network settings to factory defaults. If wireless; Reconfigure Xbox wireless settings. If wired; Press "B" on your controller and run a diagnostic test to LIVE (Test Xbox LIVE Connection).

removing temporary files and data from the system cache.
