    I am going to move from Manila to Shanghai and i will need to be able to play with my kids in Manila. My concern is Xbox live in China, should I buy an xbox in china or Manila? Will xbox live work in China?

    Do i need to use a VPN in china?

    China requires you use China-specific Xboxes and their China specific version of Live

    Do you have those?

    Hi La Rock 1979,

    So due to governmental reasons the only Xbox One's that work in china are the ones sold there and developed for that market. The consoles sold in China have different settings than most other markets in the world so in china your console must be purchased
    in China to connect to Xbox live.

    In China there are some very unique rules in regards Internet and purchases, so your Xbox One from Germany will not connect to Xbox live over there.

    I've lived in China and I loved the place but when it comes to the internet and Xbox live I too struggled and I also tried to get my company's IT department to try and help out but they could not.

    China blocks exterior Xbox Live activity, and has a custom walled garden China only version.
