Xbox live headset

please can someone verify this. My son is playing FIFA with a friend but he cannot hear him. Does he have to use an Xbox headset or can he use any headphones? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

Why worthless headsets xbox?

Xbox Why do you produce Weak and useless headsets and its written on ém "xbox live" so it must be the best headset for the xbox live? Just saying i got 2 of them and they stopped working like each one took 2 months maybe? then stopped working and issues
come ,you can't hear and you can talk or the opposite . Please make better headsets these headsets are worthless . Who say go buy other different headset not the original its good but expensive a little bit and i don't have experience with headsets thanks.

 

Hey Nathan0627, Xbox Headsets work the best, Turtle Beach is also a good brand. As far as other headphones such as earplugs, Apple Earpods will not work because of the way they are made.

Also, have you checked to see if the settings, such as the volume of the headset is turned up all the way or if it's on mute? Someone might be using a headset that isn't compatible or someone is muted. To me, it might be someone is muted either your son
or the friend but I could be wrong on that. But check out the headphone settings just to be sure!

 

Also verify that the headphone are assigned to a the gamer in the settings. If the head sets are not assigned It will not communicate with the user.

The other problem sometimes is each players NAT mode. If any player has a strict NAT the can only communicate with players whos network is strict NAT. Open NAT is the best if you can get that through your firewall and sometimes WiFi APs
