Xbox live guest not working

I can't play live with a guest. I am playing cod black ops. I selected add a guest and my name tag (1) is signed in But when I hit A to add them, the nametag (1) isn't there. Just gust shows up. When I select the guest I get an error message sayingCant
sign in to Xbox live. Please use a profile with a valid membership.

Hey Zoey!

To be sure I understand your question, you are trying to play Black Ops II with a guest signed into your Xbox 360, correct? Are you also playing using an account that has Xbox Live Gold at the same time?

Just looking for clarification so we can get you the best answer possible here.

Home console and has active
Gold on it currently?

Are you having issues with any other accounts on the same console?

To be sure are you on the Xbox 360 console or the Xbox One console?

Hi,

You actually need an Xbox LIVE Gold membership to play Halo 4 or play online with guests. If you have a trial subscription that does not work with guests.

Trumpetnerd34 your friend can play with you on Xbox live splitscreen if he is a guest with no Gamertag and if you have Xbox Live. If you putted him as a guest try disable the "multiplayer server" (when you create a world) check and see if it works. Hope

Yes, two players can play with one Xbox Live account. You need to have the "Guest" profile enabled, which is on by default from the console. To make this work, simply have your son join an Xbox Live game, turn on the second controller for his friend, and
then have the second controller join the game as listed by the onscreen instructions. It will ask what profile the second player uses, just choose "Guest" and it will allow his friend to play on Xbox Live as well. Malsidius's suggestion will work, but only
if that second profile has Xbox Live, so your son's friend would need to pay for Xbox Live, whereas the "Guest" account uses your son's Xbox Live at no additional fee.

Hey there, I don't think you can use the guest profile feature while playing ranked online matches. Though to set up a guest account for the rest of the game:

1.Make sure the second controller is turned on and is not signed in to xbox live.

2.From the main menu select VERSUS then select XBOX LIVE PLAYER MATCH

3.At the bottom of the VERSUS PLAYER MATCH screen you should see this “Y Guest SIGN-IN”

4.On the second controller press Y then select “Guest Xbox Live” from the list that drops down.

5.That’s it, you are now ready to play with your guest
