Xbox Live Gold Trials

Okay,

This is my second time reedeming an Xbox One free trial code you get with the games you buy. I tried doing so when I had silver membership and got the same reply as the one I just did when trying to reedem via laptop.

"You have gold membership already. Give this trial Gold membership to a friend who hasn't tried Gold, and let them see what they've been missing on Xbox Live"
Surly if I pay for the games I'd want to use the free trials right? You could do so on the 360, so why should I give the free trials away to someone who didn't buy the game? Plus I never had gold membership when I tried reedeming the first time, so why
isn't it let me? I'm not being harsh or anything but if you get freebies inside a case that you buy (especially spending 45-50 pound on) of course you'd wanna keep it for yourself.
So my question is, how do I reedem these codes? Or have xbox put a system in place that Xbox One owners can reedem gold trial's they are giving? Could I reedem them via Xbox 360?

New to XB1

First time poster and first time xbox user so go easy on me....

Just traded in my PS3 at best buy and got xbox loaded up and playing halo for the first time...it's so so will pick up BF4 later on today.

I have a 14 day free trial for xbox live gold which I am using, should I be able to take advantage of the free ea access trial this week and be able to download and play their games for a few days?

Once the free trial is over for xbox live gold I'm assuming I will need to purchase an xbox live subscription, is xbox live gold the only option? I can't find any information online about anything other than the gold subscription so am a little confused, why there would be a gold option but no bronze/silver/platinum/diamond etc?

 

I would also like to add that the 14 day trial I got with the xbox one console does not work either. I read somewhere that some trials you obtain are game specific (don't know if that's true or not) but one the back of those two xbox one membership trials
it does say it can be reedemed on the console but yet they don't work?

 

I have also had this issue. What gives?

Xbox Live trial memberships can only be redeemed if you do not have an existing Xbox Live Gold membership. You can redeem a trial code once your current membership has expired.

@Mister Quimby your statement isnt fully correct. even with silver membership it is saying give the code to a friend. i also called xboxlive billing support and they said those trial codes are only for brand new accounts

 

I am getting this problem also.... I have ran out of my Xbox like 12 mouth subscription and want to use a view 3 day passes I have! It keeps saying also "You have gold membership already. Give this trial Gold membership to a friend who hasn't tried Gold,
and let them see what they've been missing on Xbox Live" and it is annoying me know as it has been doing this for over a day! I also put in the code on my Laptop on the Xbox web page and it said I had redeemed it but when I have gone back to my Xbox one it
is saying the say crap :/ Any help would be wonderful!

 

I've been trying to redeem a 48hr trial code but it won't let me join any parties or anything like that it just says "You need xbox gold for this"

 

I have the same problem. I just used 2 codes amounting to 10 days trial. But whenever I used them I received this message "You have gold membership already. Give this trial Gold membership to a friend who hasn't tried Gold, and let them see what they've
been missing on Xbox Live" So I went on xbox.com and redeemed the codes on my laptop. Even though they told me it was a success, now whenever I create a party or try to play online I receive this message "You need gold for this". This problem is frustrating.

 

I put my code in the Xbox web page and it accepted it. When I went on my Xbox one it said I needed gold but also said the code was used

 

Is MS aware of this problem ? Because if they are they should be working on a solution... I just lost 10 days trial the same way deathwalker999 did. Now it's pissing me off...
