Xbox Live Gold Trial?

Hello, I am a very avid gamer and I have run into an issue where I cannot play my favourite games because they require Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. I have not previously joined Gold, so I should have a free 14 day trial waiting, right? I kept researching
on how to get the 14 day trial but nothing resolved my issue. Is it still possible for me to get a 14 day trial even after I've played without Gold for months?
