Xbox live gold subscription for my child’s account

Hi,

So I’ve been paying for an xbox live gold subscription for about a year and my son today advised me he hasnt used it, as it wont work.

I am the main account holder and had set up the xbox live acount under my name but my son uses the xbox under a different account name that we set up with appropriate age restrictions.

How can I enable my account to let him use the subscription.

i hope this makes sense! As you may gather im not a frequent user of the xbox!

How to Join Xbox LIVE

This is the final step before you start enjoying the most amazing entertainment experience on Xbox LIVE.

The process is free and easy to follow.

You only require an valid email address and a high-speed internet connection.

There are two Membership levels available: Free and Gold. You can read more about what you get with each membership level.

Before proceeding, confirm the following:

If you have a Zune or Games for Windows LIVE account, it means you already have an Xbox LIVE account! All you have to do is to download the account to your Xbox 360 console, sign in and start enjoying the Xbox LIVE experience.

If you have a Microsoft account, you can use it for your Xbox LIVE account.
Note: "Microsoft account" refers to what was formerly "Windows Live ID". It is the email address and password you need to sign into Microsoft services (including Xbox LIVE).

This means that if you already have a Messenger or Hotmail account, you automatically have a Microsoft account.

So, during registration for Xbox LIVE, if you are asked for an email address, enter your Microsoft account.

If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can sign up for a free account on your computer, or during the signing in process for Xbox LIVE.

If you decide to go for Gold Membership, you should have your credit card information ready before proceeding with the process of signing up for Xbox LIVE.

Steps to follow

1) On your controller, press Guide then select Join Xbox LIVE.

2) Follow the instructions on the screen on how to sign up for Xbox LIVE.

Note: Make sure that you enter your correct date of birth when signing up. This will be used to determine whether you get a child account or an adult account. Once the account is created, you cannot change the date of birth.

Join Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack

With the Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, your family is given four 12-month Gold Memberships for less than the price of two. If you are interested, just select Family Gold on the Subscription selection screen.

No option for Gold Family Pack?

You might be using a child account, or the Gold Family Pack does not apply to your region.

Here is a list of countries that have access to the Gold Family Pack:

• Germany

Does a parent xbox live gold subscription populate so a child can use it as well?

So, I have my own xbox account. My son has his xbox live account. He is listed as a child under me. If I sign up for an xbox live gold subscription ( I currently do not have one, nor does he), will he get access to xbox gold subscription as well with child
restrictions? Or, do I need to get a code and turn on xbox live for him and me separately?

I could be interpreting incorrectly but it sounds like you want to add your son's account to your xbox family roster? Some more info here...

Only a parent using the Microsoft family service can change Xbox privacy and online safety settings for a child account. If you're having trouble changing your child's settings, make sure your Microsoft account is a parent account in a Microsoft family.
See whether you're a child or an adult in a family by signing in at account.microsoft.com/family. To change your child's settings:

• Sign in to the Xbox settings page with the parent’s Microsoft account. You may be asked to verify that you're the account owner.
  If you're having issues signing in to a Microsoft account, go to
  Microsoft account help.
• Choose the gamertag for your child's account. If you want to update the privacy and online safety settings for the parent or adult account, choose that gamertag instead.
  
• Select theXbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety
  tab or the Privacy tab, review the settings currently in place and then update those you want to change.
  
• Select Save before leaving or switching to another tab. If you don't save the changes before you move to the other tab, your changes won't be saved.
  
• Have your child sign in and sign out of their account to make the changes take effect.

I think I have managed to work it out.

I have made this my xbox home and now he seema to be able to access the games i had tried downloading for him.. fingers crossed
