XBox Live Gold sub showing online but not on XBox 360

I have signed up for the free one month trial of XBox Live Gold. The subscription shows correctly when viewing my account online via my PC, but on the XBox it still says I have only XBox Live Silver. So, I can't access any of the features of Gold and my
trial is due to run out in less than 2 weeks. Very disappointed. Why has the subscription not downloaded to the XBox and how can I fix it?

Xbox live family pack was discontinued on the 360 2 years ago.

Each account on the 360 needs their own gold sub to play online now.

Yes, I tried that. Made no difference. I suppose I'll have to try and contact Microsoft Support. What a pain.

 

Alas, I can't contact Microsoft support - can't enter my name in the greyed out fields to request a live chat. My account information is all complete and correct. This just goes from bad to worse. The chances of my little boy ever being able to play the
game he paid for with his pocket money seem slim. What a farce.

Thanks, MisterCizl. I spoke to Microsoft Support and while the (helpful) support person didn't directly resolve the problem, he got me thinking about a few other things and I eventually resolved the issue myself.

Even with deleting my profile and downloading again, the Live Gold subscription was not recognised on the Xbox UNTIL I changed my account region (which was wrong, in any case). Then the subscription finally downloaded.
