Xbox Live Gold redeem card doesn’t give me the 3 months

Today is August 19th, it’s my birthday and I got an Xbox live Gold card that lasts 3 months. I put in the code into my Xbox One, the process goes as it usually goes, I get to a screen asking for a recurring payment
for Gold that says a month of free Xbox live Gold is optional, but I have to pay after the one month. I turn the option off and click redeem code, or Next (I don’t remember specifically), but then it takes me the Xbox store home page where you can see the
expiration date until your Xbox live Gold runs out. The problem was, the date didn’t change from the last time I saw it. I then think I did something wrong and type in the code again, but then it says it’s already redeemed when I don’t have the extra 3 months
added. I then go to my Microsoft history to see if I I actually bought it or not. The page loads in, and it says that a gold membership redeem card was added to my account 10 days ago, when I know for certain that I didn’t put in a gold membership that long
ago. It said that the card had no money in it. So now I’m left wondering 3 things. 1. My Gold card, that I actually did redeem, wasn’t in my recent history of purchases or added into my Xbox live gold membership time. 2. Why does it say that I put in an Xbox
Live Gold membership card when I didn’t? 3. How could a card, that is recorded in my recent history of purchases, that I didn’t purchase in the first place, from 10 days ago, have $0 in value and still show up in my Microsoft history? Maybe I got a hacked/
used card, or maybe something is wrong on Microsoft’s end of things. I don’t know and that’s why I’m asking if somebody can help me understand why my Xbox Live Gold membership card, which was unscratched, telling from the covering bar over the code, isn’t
working like it’s supposed to.

so from my understanding If I got purchased 3 years of xbox live gold,say even if I purchased these via 3rd party online seller which sells xbox gold cards and then redeemed these cards via my xbox one giving me years of gold then went and subbed to xbox
game pass ultimate for the 31 offer it'll give me 3 years of game pass ultimate subscribtion?.If I remove my card details afterwards I sub to game pass it wont lose the game pass after a month and go back down to regular xbox live gold membership for the rest
of the 3 years?..

Did you purchase Xbox Live Gold through the Minecraft + Gold page through the Xbox One dashboard, or did you purchase a 3 Month Xbox Live Gold pre-paid code and redeem it? If you redeemed and Xbox Live Gold code, unfortunately you will not qualify for this
promotion. To qualify for this promotion, 3 Months or 12 Months of Xbox Live Gold must be purchased through the Minecraft + Gold promotion page directly through the Xbox One console with a credit card on file.

its a green xbox live gold 3 months card so i can't use it to buy games in game purchases???

You can't buy games or in game purchases with a 3 Month Gold membership card.

But even if you have a subscription, you can redeem the card, and the card will "pause" your renewal payments for 3 months, and after the 3 months of the gold card are over, you start paying normally for your subscription again.

So just redeem it on your account, and you save 3 monthly Gold payments. And even if you have a longer subscription (like a 12 month subscription), it will "push back" the next renewal payment for 3 months.

So for example, if your next renewal were in November 2019, and you redeem the 3 Month card, you'd have to pay for the next subscription renewal in February 2020.
