Xbox Live Gold possible remaining months credit

Hey I was wondering if anyone would be able to answer a question I have about XBL Gold. I just chatted with an ambassador and trying to explain to him my question without constantly hearing an answer to a completely different question over and over again
was like pulling teeth.

In August of 2016 my Xbox got stolen from me. I purchased 1 year of XBOX LIVE GOLD in January of 2016. Immediately after my Xbox console was stolen, I logged into the account via my laptop, changed my account password and cancelled my xblive renewal. I proceeded
to call Microsoft support to have them completely cancel my XBOX LIVE GOLD subscription in the event that the person was still able to get into my account and utilize the features of Gold, play my games online, etc. The lady went ahead and Cancelled XBL Gold
from the account as requested, removed all credit card info from the account and confirmed that I changed the PW and no one will be able to login to the account besides myself.

My question is... Since I had 6 months remaining before having to prematurely cancel it, when I return from studying abroad in Germany sometime in Feb and go out and purchase a new console, will I be able to contact Support and possibly get the remaining 6
months that I unfortunately lost credited to my account, or is it completely gone?

Again, XBLGold status on my account is set to "Expired" as requested, so please don't tell me that it's still active on my account like the ambassador tried to :|

Q: Can I add existing Xbox LIVE Gold members to my Family Pack? For example, my kids are already Xbox LIVE Gold members.

A: Yes. When an existing Xbox LIVE Gold member is added to a Family Pack, the remaining time on their Gold membership benefits the whole family! For every two months remaining on their current Gold membership, the entire family receives an extra month of
Xbox LIVE Gold. For example, if your child has six months remaining on their existing Xbox LIVE Gold membership, when you add him/her to your Family Pack, all four of the individual Xbox LIVE Gold accounts available in your Family Pack will be extended by
an additional three months. If you have two children who have four and six months of Gold remaining, respectively, on their existing Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions, all four of the individual Xbox LIVE Gold accounts available in your Family Pack will be extended
by an additional five months.

How do I convert my xox gold live account to a family account for free?

The live gold family account FAQ states:

Q: I am currently an Xbox LIVE Gold member. If I have time remaining on my current subscription, do I receive a discount on an Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack?

A: We will give existing Xbox LIVE Gold members a prorated discount on the purchase of a Family Pack. For each month remaining on your current Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, we will reduce the purchase price of a Family Pack by $5. For example, if you have
six months of your Gold subscription remaining, you qualify for a $30 discount and will only be charged $69.99 at the time of purchase. If you have 20 months or more of your current Xbox LIVE Gold subscription remaining, you can upgrade to an Xbox
LIVE Gold Family Pack for free. You will not receive a refund for any remaining subscription time in excess of 20 months.

But when I try to convert my regular gold account to a Family account the process

1) wants my credit card - I have 24 month remaining on my account and should be entitled to a free family account.

2) Seems to indicate that I'll be charged $99, but I have 24 months on my account already. The process won't assure me that my existing balance will be converted to the gold family membership.

Can someone explain how this is supposed to work?

Unless you got a code from them at the time you called, it would be completely gone. Generally the only time they will give remaining time is if you add gold to a wrong account, call to cancel within the first 30 days and they give you a token to use on
the correct account. In your case, you would have to purchase a new subscription.

I'm sorry but that's not possible. As a workaround, you can redeem the Xbox Live Gold subscription and then purchase an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a month, the remaining Xbox Live Gold subscription time will be converted.
