Xbox live gold payment not going through for child account

Hi, My child has an xbox 360 and I have loaded my credit card details so that he can join xbox live gold. When he tries to make a payment he is getting a status code 80182300 and payment is not going through. I have looked for this error code to no avail.
Please help.

How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

Overview

You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

Steps to Follow

Add or change a payment option using your console

1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:

If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.

If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.

4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

1) Go to My Account.

2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

4) Proceed to do either of the following:

If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:

Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information

Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

I have no idea is this will help but as no one else has responded here goes. Im not sure but I believe if you have your account on your sons Xbox and set it as the home console for that account then the Gold membership should be
shared with all other accounts on the same xbox. Also I think you can login to your child's account using a web browser and add a payment option for gold and such from there, check the second link.

It might be related to the current service alert - Xbox Live Service Status | Xbox Live Service Outage I'd wait and try again when that is resolved. if you still run into

Just for clarification, is this a child account?

Is there issues when attempting to buy a Xbox live gold subscription?

If this is a " Parent and Child account" then the child account would attempt to buy it then would need permission from the adult account.

If the child has no safety lock on purchases then the account may purchase the Xbox live gold with no issue.

The Xbox live gold does not have to be bought as a gift.

If the parent account has gold set it as the "Home console" so the gold may be shared to other users on the console, if this is a Xbox one.

To purchase an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (includes gold) or Live Gold subscription, it is necessary to have a payment method linked to the account.

However, as you're going to purchase this for your child. Try adding the payment method in the parent account. Microsoft account | payment options.

Once added, make sure that ask to buy is enabled for the child account and try making the purchase.

Now the parent account should receive a notification and you can approve the purchase.

OK two things first if your profile isnt the one with gold but home gold that would be why

Home gold is only an Xbox one feature

If you are getting a specific error we need to know which of the 3 possible ones

If Not available in your region

Simple fix you must match your account region to your actual region if you don't live in an Xbox live region then you are out of luck

If it is asking for a payment option that's normal

For Xbox 360 bc titles you must have an Xbox 360 without a payment option or using the website or the Xbox one you must have a creditcard on file

If it is you aren't allowed to download this content

Sign into the parent account and add gold to that account and use that account to queue it
