    Xbox Live Gold - not allowing free game downloads


    I purchased an Xbox One last December. In January, 2018, I ordered Xbox Live Gold. I have been able to play online and download the free games until last week. I can still play online games, but I can no longer download the free games - it shows the games,
    but indicates I have to pay in order to download them.

    Any ideas? Thanksl

    Hi there,

    in order to download Games with Gold for free, you will need a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription, any free trials will not count as Gold to allow purchasing those Games with Gold games for free

    Redownload your account as seen here:
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/add-remove-account-xbox-one

    And check to make sure you have gold here:
    https://account.microsoft.com/services/

    If this is an xbox 360 game with gold you will need a payment method for it but it won't charge you, but don't click confirm if it says a currency amount at the end as that's not supposed to happen.

    Please contact xbox support about this if you have done these things but it won't work the right way:

    Hello @ChiefJoboo,

    Under my services, I have this:

    which I assume means I don't have Xbox Live Gold. However, I paid for a year of it back in January. This is the entry from my January credit card statement:

    there is a payment method associated to my account and it has valid credit card info.

    I didn't remove/add my account from the Xbox since MS does not think I have Xbox Live Gold.

    Something else: If I look at the order history of that credit card under "Payment & billing", it show purchases in December, 2017 and Feb. 2018, but not the Xbox Live purchase in January. It's like it never happened. Xbox Live Gold - not allowing free game downloads :(

    Next step is to contact support.

    Hello Microsoft,

    I have the same problem. I have a valid XBox One gold membership until 04/2019 and I can not download Cobalt for free. It says 14,99€ what is the regular price. What can I do to get the game for free? I would like to play it with friends. The free games
    are the only reason I pay for the gold membership.

    "Cobalt" is not currently available through Games With Gold. The currently available games are "Race The Sun" and "Battlefield 1" for Xbox One, and "Dante's Inferno" for Xbox 360.

    If you buy Gold membership for only one month, so you do not have to buy a membership for at least three months.

    only a standard Xbox Live Gold subscription will allow you to get a Game with Gold for free. a 14 day trial is like the name mentions a Trial subscription and won't allow you to get a 360 Games with Gold game for free, you will require a standard Xbox Live
    Gold subscription for that.

    Be aware that you need a paid xbox live gold subscription to allow you to download those for free.

    What exactly is the issue with your £6.00, since I don't really understand the question.

    Purchase history on a renewal subscription shifted

    Hi there,

    the xbox live account stays the same when it has a gold or free subscription.

    Any purchase is linked to that xbox live account so it doesn't matter if the account is gold or a free account.

    It should allow you to download that game again whenever you want when using the same xbox live account and when the console is connected to xbox live ofcourse.
