    Hi all,

    Here's my setup: I have a parent account and 3 child accounts setup. I have 2 consoles (XBOX one S & one X). I have an XBOX Live Gold subscription linked to the parent account. Likely to need a 3rd console next year.

    Issue: As the account with the gold subscription, I have to be logged on to both consoles to allow my kids to logon (using their accounts) and be able to use the online features such as chatting to their friends and playing Fortnite.

    The idea behind parent/child accounts and family settings is supposed to be to enable child safety while playing online. There are numerous 'tweaks' and workarounds that parents need to make to their child accounts to allow, what should be, normal functionality.
    From elevated age settings for games that really shouldn't need it to setting a home console as the primary console amongst many others.

    From searching the support forums, this appears to be an on-going issue for some years now. When will Microsoft fix it?

    Microsoft are really good at granular user control of accounts in a corporate environment but not so on the gaming side.

    Why is it so difficult to setup a family for gaming and have it just work without all the tweaking?

    When a kid gets a new xbox for Christmas and then has to wait half a day while a technically competent dad tries to set it up, it ruins the whole experience for both. Most of my less technical friends in the same situation have just given up and either
    have the kids using full adult accounts or in some caseshave purchased separate gold live subscriptions for each kid.

    Microsoft - when you make it really hard for the parents, guess what? We stop spending!

    Please, please, please spend some time and fix family settings/multiple consoles.

    And lets not forget multiple unlimited users can set the same console as their gold. Not sure why this is needed.. might be left over from the family share program... but I can see it helping out huge families... with multiple consoles ... all make the
    one in the living room their HOME... entire family gets all the games.. (On that single console)

    The Family plan has been discontinued since 2013.

    Instead, the owner of a Gold membership can sign into the Xbox One console the family uses, and set that console as their "Home Console".

    If the Gold owner account goes to the console's settings and under "Personalization" sets that console as their "Home Console", everyone playing on that console will benefit from the Gold owner's Gold membership (and is also able to play that person's digital
    games).

    This does not work for Xbox 360 consoles, however.

    I too would love to see Family Gold or Family Library or something like that for multiple users on multiple consoles in a family. We have a similar set up in our house with a mess of kids and multiple consoles, but my Home Xbox is the only one with all my
    games available for the kids to play.

    There is a team at Microsoft that works on Family features like this, and I hold out hope that someday soon they'll bring this capability to Xbox.
