    Xbox Live Gold membership not recognized


    I hooked up my old xbox 360 to the internet a couple of weeks ago, and got started my free month of Xbox Live. Now, 2 weeks later, my Xbox still says I have a Silver membership, even though I can see my Gold membership is active if I log on to my microsoft
    account in the browser, and I am unable to play multiplayer games and get access to user created stuff. Almost seems like my membership status or something is not updating correctly on my xbox.

    Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know a fix?

    Also, Microsoft may have the worst customer service in the known universe. There is no phone number, email address, or other form of direct contact? The online chat never works. Guess you're depending on the user forums to fix something made by Microsoft...

    You may want to check your subscription at
    http://commerce.microsoft.com     to make sure it does still show the trial. If it does, or it shows any other errors, you will want to contact support. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada

    Thank you for your reply.

    Yes, I have checked my subscription status. It says it is active and that it is a gold membership. It says it has been active for about 2 weeks and that next payment is in about 2 weeks. I can even use the browser on my xbox to check the status, and it says
    the same. As soon as I exit the browser and look at my profile on my xbox it says I have a silver membership.

    I come from Scandinavia, and Microsoft does not offer a support phone here, and Microsofts pages will not allow me to use the online chat function to talk to support.

    Promotional subscriptions are not eligible for Rewards, as stated in our FAQ:

    —My Xbox Live Rewards account is not recognizing my Xbox Live Gold membership. What should I do?

    Error in gold status

    Hello DannyWC,

    We see that you are not receiving Gold Status this month due to your subscription being a promotional Gold subscription for 1 month. Promotional subscriptions are not eligible for Rewards, so your free 1 month is not eligible. From our FAQ:

    Sorry you're having issues with your rewards. How did you renew, and did you use a promotion? Below is from the FAQ page here.

    Will remaining Live Gold Trial days be added to a new gold subscription and can I get Reward points with a trial?

    As per the Xbox Live Rewards FAQ, trial memberships may not be eligible for Xbox Live Rewards. See here: "Xbox Live Rewards can only recognize paid monthly or yearly standard, non-promotional Xbox Live Gold memberships. If you have a different type of membership,
    we may not be able to recognize you as an Xbox Live Rewards Gold member."

    Purchasing an Xbox Live subscription while on a trial SHOULD add the remaining days of the trial to your subscription. I'm not 100% certain on that though.
