XBox Live Gold membership not being recognized

Purchased 3 mo membership (plus 1 free month) to Live Gold 8 days ago. Downloaded Fortnight. Everything had been working fine. Our internet provider was having some issues so when my son was playing, the game was lagging then just completely shut him
out. Once internet was restored, he has not been able to play, it is not recognizing the subscription even though it is good and shows it is active, until Sept 18. I have tried EVERYTHING! Rebooting router, checking parental security, removing and redownloading
profile, cleaning cache and other cleaning of MAC things I read to do, you name it, I've done it. He can see his friends status playing, etc but when he clicks on the it to play, it tells him "your account does not have the correct permissions to access Xbox
Live functionality". It then takes us to a screen where we can purchase live gold, but we already have it!! Anybody know something that maybe I haven't tried yet? Wonder if removing and replacing the Fortnight app will help?

We see that you are not receiving Gold Status this month due to your subscription being a promotional Gold subscription for 1 month. Promotional subscriptions are not eligible for Rewards, so your free 1 month is not eligible. From our FAQ:

My Xbox Live Rewards account is not recognizing my Xbox Live Gold membership. What should I do?

Xbox Live Rewards can only recognize paid monthly or yearly standard, non-promotional Xbox Live Gold memberships. If you have a different type of membership, we may not be able to recognize you as an Xbox Live Rewards Gold member.

After reviewing your account, your Gold subscription for the last three months was a promotional, discounted subscription. As mentioned in the FAQ, promotional subscriptions are not eligible for Rewards:

Sorry you're having issues with your rewards. How did you renew, and did you use a promotion? Below is from the FAQ page here.
