    Hi,

    Please help me with the issue I have. I am purchased a 12 month XBOX live gold membership, however when I try to REDEEM code using my laptop or through my console I am getting an error.

    On my laptop - error is below

    How to Renew your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership

    Overview of Xbox LIVE Renewal

    When your current Xbox LIVE Gold Membership is about to run out, you will get a renewal message on your screen.

    • Month-to-month membership- Notification comes 15 days in advance
    • 3 or 12 month membership- Notification comes 30 days in advance
    Xbox LIVE membership can be renewed using a credit card, a debit card, or a Prepaid Gold Membership Card.

    If your automatic membership renewal (auto renewal) is set to off, you can purchase a new subscription or use a prepaid membership card to renew your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership.

    Renew with a payment option by purchasing a new membership:

    Steps to Follow

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to sign in.

    2) Under Settings, select Account.

    3) Proceed to Your Memberships, and select the membership that you currently have (for example Xbox LIVE Gold)

    4) Select Modify Membership and you will be presented with a list of renewal options. If you are on an Xbox LIVE Free Membership, you can choose to upgrade to Gold Membership.

    5) Select a membership option, then Confirm Purchase.

    Once you have confirmed your purchase, the following will happen:

    • The payment option you are using will be charged immediately.
    • The time subscription plan you have just purchased will be added to your remaining subscription time.
    • Your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership will be activated and auto renewal turned on.
    Take note:

    If you use a credit card as your payment option, you cannot remove it on file until your current membership expires.

    There is a procedure you can follow to add or change your Xbox LIVE payment option.

    Renew with a prepaid membership card

    It is possible to renew your Xbox LIVE membership using a Prepaid Microsoft Gold Membership Card. This card is available at retail locations.

    If you choose to redeem a prepaid Xbox LIVE membership code, you will be added time to your existing Xbox LIVE membership, while your renewal settings will remain unchanged.

    How to turn on auto renewal (for existing membership):

    If you are already on Xbox LIVE Gold of Family Pack membership and you want to turn on auto renewal without purchasing new membership, you should contact Xbox Support.

    How to Troubleshoot Xbox LIVE renewal:

    If there are issues with your Xbox LIVE account, you might receive the following messages. The solutions are provided below:

    • Error: Your credit card has been declined several times by our billing service.
    This means that your credit card has expired, or the information on it has been changed. To solve this problem, there is a procedure you can follow to change payment option for Xbox LIVE membership.

    • Error: 8015d080
    In case you receive this error message, you need to contact Xbox Support.

    The problem could be a simply glitch.

    Sometimes when redeeming a gold membership at Xbox.com it could display an error, but has actually worked. Please check your E-Mail inbox to see if you received any confirmation of the !2M Prepaid Card being activated. If you still haven't got confirmaion
    by now and it is not applied on your account, and is still saying the code is invalid I strongly recommend talking to Xbox Customer Support as soonn as possible.

    An invalid code suggests that the code is not for the same region (country) in which you live. This is the same meaning for XBOS1005.

    Where did you purchase the code for and where do you physically live? Gold membership cards are region locked and cannot be used outside of the country in which they were intended.

    Actually they did start making gold card region locked several years ago. So that this point, they are region locked.

    I used a few region free codes not even a year ago. Some still float about and I'm sure I'm not a minority in that, so your point is a bit invalid.

    Our points are valid. If you had used a code from a different country then it is a rarity as it has been at least 4-5 years since all Gold codes have been locked out.

    As for MS code, I'm sure if the OP had gotten one from MS he would have said so.

  11. The statement I made about Microsoft having them had no regard to the askers question. I was merely stating the fact that region-free codes exist, no matter where they come from. Which was trying to be told by Smwutches. They also exist on some websies that
    offer 'worldwide region-free instant codes'. Which again was directed to Smwutches response rather than the one who asked the question. So your point in trying to correct became invalid at that point. SO basically in theory the region-freecodes haven't retired,
    for as long as they are available to buy them. And there are a lot of them out there.

  12. I think it's very amusing thatyou both liked each others post. But the fact remains that anyone can buy a region-free code so they aren't fully "retired" as you say. You may have all those fancy badges and medals on your gamercard. But I go by experience,
    and trust me, I have a lot more knowledge on Microsoft than you think, and it broadens for miles. Even in some cases where I've had to be the one to answer the questions and resolve them that no one would seem to post on, for days. Keep up the good work.
    And Smwutches should have known a simple route around switching a gamertag, in the post that I saw the other week. It was not that difficult to resolve that question and I'm glad the one who asked the questionn got it sorted out.

    I can't speak for onyx, but I did not "like" his post. I do agree with him though. At this point it is extremely rare for anyone to have a region free gold card.

    No one is doubting the knowledge you have and this was not meant to start an argument.

  14. There is no argument intended Smwutches. And sometimes when I decide to buy a 12Month for my Xbox LIVE account sometimes I rather do so from them. And although it is a european based website.Their codes actually are region free. At one point my region was
    set to Canada a year ago or so. And when I tried getting back on it and finding myself out of options I then thought of that specific website. Which I know are region free. And that was my problem sorted, it redeemed rather than the UK ones that wouldn't.
    And when it gave me the chance I set the region back to the UK. This again was quite recent. Do you see what point I'm getting that? They aren't rare at all, infact they are also easily found on Google. And they area life saver in situations like that. At
    this point, I'm neutral. And do not want to argue with anyone rather than to just get my point across. I respect your reply.

    And I only usually buy from them if I just want a prepaid code, and retailer stores are shut after hours, or region issues. It's been a while since I checked if they stilldo region-free codes, and apparently still do.

  15. Then again, there was something I didn't know until I spoke to Microsoft Support. My Xbox One controller wouldn't detect any USB cable put in it, tried it on both consoles with both USB's and the same deal happened. They advised me to try get the controller
    replaced by the retailer. And so I took the controller with the reference Microsoft gave me, and said they didn't need it they'd do that anyway. Which is always good to know if it's in warranty that can be done. I thought I'd have had to pay 50 odd pound to
    replace something that wasn't my doing. So I admit I don't know "everything" just a very large aspect of areas.
