Xbox Live Gold Membership, but can't play

Hi,

Today I got an XBOX1 from my friend. I paid for a 3-month membership card for XBOX Live Gold and the code worked (I have never owned or played XBOX before). Everywhere I look, both online/account settings says I have the membership until 5/4/2018, but anytime
I go to play a game (I only have 1 game at the moment, Overwatch), upon pushing "A" to enter the game, it immediately thrusts me unto the membership screen to purchase XBOX Live membership. I entered the code over 3 hours ago.

I have tried everything I can think of and found online. I have restarted the console, unplugged and waited, Deleted my profile and re-entered it, logged off/in to my account, un-installed and re-installed the game. Has anyone else ever had an issue like
this before? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix the issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Xbix live not working

I Renewed my Xbox live gold membership 2 days ago online and I can download free gold games but I can't play Xbox live online

I believe there’s an issue many Users are experiencing with redeeming codes. You can check if the service alert is still active by visiting: Xbox.com/status

You can't play multiplayer with a free membership. You need to buy an Xbox live gold membership to play online.

Sometimes the Xbox will show a message that it's having problems getting content right now or that it can't connect to Xbox Live but it actually is connected. Have you tried playing a game online, which would be the best test to see if it's working. Is
the gamerscore the same online as on the Xbox? If you tried to play online but can't, do you have an active Xbox Live gold membership? If you have an Xbox Live Gold membership and you can't play online, you can contact support at http://support.xbox.com

Do you have a xbox live gold membership it's normally £34 pound year . If you don't, that's why you can't play online . If you do have a gold membership then check the parental controls. In settings/ family

No you can't... Xbox Live Gold membership is required

If this is the account that you are trying to use, you can't play on Live. You are showing as a silver(free) member. You need to have a gold membership in order to play on Xbox Live.
