Xbox live gold issue.

I'm not exactly sure if I'm in the right spot for this question but here goes. Yesterday I went to a friends house to set up his xbox one. Made his new account and gamertag then added his 3 month gold card. Heres the problem, it shows the subscription
on his xbox one when we look in options and subscriptions but its not attached to his gamertag. He can play games online but the options for games with gold isn't there just an option telling him to buy a subscription to xbox live gold, I'm not sure what
went wrong or how to fix it?

I was just told this while chatting with an MS rep about a separate issue: "Every console sent in for repair will have a free 30 day Xbox Live Gold subscription after the repair. However for those with disc unreadable issue, on top of the free 30 day Xbox Live Gold subscription, they'll receive a free game token." They will email the code after the replacement XBox has shipped.

xbox live is having some issues so that may be the problem.
It worked earlier for me and there was a monetary value for each of the Gold bundles (no REQ points)

 

Sorry to hear it. Have him try to find the current games on the website here and see if he can download them that way. It may fix the issue.

We have a similar issue. Can't access free games on website at all. Can get the Xbox one free games on console. Can't access 360 free games.

 

I have a similar issue on XBOX One. I purchased an XBOX Live Gold Membership, but on my XBOX One Dashboard, I can't access any Gold features, including free games. I just keeps asking me to "Join Gold". I checked my subscriptions on the XBOX One and online
under my Microsoft account, and it shows my active XBOX Live Gold subscription. How can I make my XBOX One recognize I have Gold????

 

He was able to find and download the xbox live gold free games but it's still showing he doesn't have xbox live gold. I guess its more of an annoyance then anything since he is able to play online and get the free games.

Thank you for letting us know about your issue today.

About your issue, it might that the gold or code was redeemed on another account or was not successfully redeemed. If it was successfully redeemed then you will not get that issue.

If it was redeemed on a different account that is on the console then you can just set that console to home xbox on the said console. The reason that he was able to access Live is because there might be other accounts on the console that has live and set
to home xbox.

Or if there are no other accounts on the console, only his account and the code was redeemed on his account please try to chat with xbox support or call them so they can check on the account to fully solve the issue.
