Xbox Live Gold games are different in other regions

Hi Microsoft,

I understand the free Xbox One game release for this month is NHL 2019. However, in Singapore, we recieved Race the Sun instead. Similarly, previous month, we did not receive the Earth Defense Force game. Can the release worldwide be of similar titles?

It's to do with licence issues and countries banning certain games, sadly nothing MS can really do about it, you can however go through the xbox.com website and get the GwG game you wanted switch region on the console and download it. Its what a few people
did for a previous GwG title from what I heard.

Hi,

the change in games is due to local restrictions. Microsoft wants to offer the same games, but sometimes they face laws or regulations of a country and just pick another one.

We have a similar issue in my region.

We don't get Portal as a Games with Gold instead we where given The Maw for 2nd month in a row.

The reason for us not getting it is that it was not released originally in our region. So the licence rights is not there.

For games not available in certain regions has to do with the licence rights. Governments needs to approve the licence rights in the respective regions before a game can be released.

These geolocation locks prevent certain games from being made available in certain countries.

There is different titles sometimes in different regions due to Licensing of the game and some games are not always accessible in some regions.

So there is sometimes different games arranged for games with gold if that is the situation so if the games are not accessible in the region there is no way to get it.
