Xbox Live Gold Free monthe wont work

My Xbox home menu says I'm able to join Xbox Live Gold for 1 month free but whenever I click on it, it requires me to buy the membership.

Yes you will need Xbox live. It works out at around £3.33 a month.

Keep your eye out for some bargains on Xbox live.

I think you might still get a 1 month free pass when you set your account up via the Xbox.

I'm having the same issue. We bought an Xbox One for Christmas (our first game console since the original Wii.. and pretty overwhelming in terms of setup but we're getting used to it). Mostly, we're interested in just local single and multiplayer (two
player) games for my wife and I and have no interest in the "social media/online interaction" side of things. However, we've been getting Xbox Live messages saying we're eligible for a free one month Xbox Live Gold trial and figured what the heck, we might
as well check it out. When I click on the "launch App" as directed by the message, I'm taken to a page where I can either purchase a membership or redeem a code. That's it. The most recent message we got was dated 4/2/18. We've never had a gold account
or any other paid account, nor trial membership. How do we accept this offer?!? Thanks...

 

As a followup, I'm attaching a screen capture of the message. I've blanked out the product ID#, just in case it was machine-specific. Thanks for any help.
