Xbox Live Gold Family Need Adult sign in

    Hi

I have Xbox Live Gold membership which should cover myself and both my kids on 3 separate xbox's and me set as adult, and kids set up as family.

The problem is this - one child has full access, while the other can only play online if he signs me in on his xbox and then uses his profile.

If I log in on my xbox, he gets kicked out.

    Any ideas?

    :)

    How to Join Xbox LIVE

This is the final step before you start enjoying the most amazing entertainment experience on Xbox LIVE.

The process is free and easy to follow.

You only require an valid email address and a high-speed internet connection.

There are two Membership levels available: Free and Gold. You can read more about what you get with each membership level.

    Before proceeding, confirm the following:

If you have a Zune or Games for Windows LIVE account, it means you already have an Xbox LIVE account! All you have to do is to download the account to your Xbox 360 console, sign in and start enjoying the Xbox LIVE experience.

If you have a Microsoft account, you can use it for your Xbox LIVE account.
Note: "Microsoft account" refers to what was formerly "Windows Live ID". It is the email address and password you need to sign into Microsoft services (including Xbox LIVE).

This means that if you already have a Messenger or Hotmail account, you automatically have a Microsoft account.

So, during registration for Xbox LIVE, if you are asked for an email address, enter your Microsoft account.

If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can sign up for a free account on your computer, or during the signing in process for Xbox LIVE.

If you decide to go for Gold Membership, you should have your credit card information ready before proceeding with the process of signing up for Xbox LIVE.

    Steps to follow

    1) On your controller, press Guide then select Join Xbox LIVE.

    2) Follow the instructions on the screen on how to sign up for Xbox LIVE.

Note: Make sure that you enter your correct date of birth when signing up. This will be used to determine whether you get a child account or an adult account. Once the account is created, you cannot change the date of birth.

Join Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack

With the Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, your family is given four 12-month Gold Memberships for less than the price of two. If you are interested, just select Family Gold on the Subscription selection screen.

No option for Gold Family Pack?

You might be using a child account, or the Gold Family Pack does not apply to your region.

Here is a list of countries that have access to the Gold Family Pack:
    • Australia
    • Canada
    • United States
    • United Kingdom
    • Germany
    • France
    • New Zealand
    • Japan

Gold can only be shared on the console you have set as your Home. It cannot be shared across 3 separate consoles. In that type of situation you would need at least 2 subscriptions. You set one of the consoles as your Home, then you can sign into another
one and still use gold as long as you're signed in, then one of the kids would need gold on their account and sign into or set the 3rd console as their Home.

    DanGaley,

The way the family sharing works is the profiles that are on the "Home" Xbox are able to access all of the features and games available that the primary account purchases without the primary account being logged in. The Primary account can then Log
into a different Xbox and still have the same features and access to the Games.

The Secondary accounts are not allowed to access the live features or digital games when they are not on the home Xbox, Unless the Primary is logged in with them to the same one.

Because of this limitation you are only able to share between two Xbox ones at a time.

    Hi Dan,

Thank you for coming to the forums today. I'd be happy to help.

Xbox Live gold sharing through the adult account in a Family is no longer a feature unfortunately. Sharing Gold to other accounts can only be done through the Home Console. Each account can only have one home console and other accounts can only benefit from
the gold subscription on your account if you are concurrently signed in to their Xbox. Of course an account can only be signed in to one Xbox at a time, hence why he gets kicked out of Xbox Live because your account get's signed out from his/her Xbox.

Essentially if they all have their own Xbox's, you would only be able to share your Gold subscription to one other Xbox and would need to buy a subscription for the other two. Or you can buy one other subscription and set up the Home Console sharing with
the other two Xbox's. Just be aware that if your account is on their Xbox's, they have full access to your account unless you have security measures on your account for sign in or making purchases.

Hey, basically you need two gold memberships to cover 4 consoles as they don't do the family membership anymore. Saves you from reading the wordier posts.

    Thanks guys.

    Summary

Set Kid A Xbox as Home and sign in as me. Then sign Kid A in.

Get Kid B his own Gold subscription

Sign in as me on my console, then Kid A can share my subscription even though I've signed out of Kid A's console.

    Think thats right!

    Hi Dan,

That's is correct! You would be able to share the Xbox Live Gold with Kid A without having to be signed in as long
as your profile is set up as home on Kid A's console. Kid B would need their own subscription since the home can only be set up on one Console per profile.
