Xbox Live Gold ended but Free Multiplayer?

Hello,

I subscribed one month of xbox live gold (December 1€ promotion). I decided not to renew Xbox Live Subscription because to be honest I find it quite expensive for non-hardcore gamers. In system settings my subscription appears correctly as "canceled".

Nevertheless, i can still play Gears of War 4 multiplayer online. Why?

I don't want to complain, just trying to figure it out.

Additional information :

My xbox one S is new, purchased on November 2017. It has two more accounts besides mine, none of which has Gold.

This Gamertag is not the one I am referring to.

Xbox Fitness will stay free for Gold subs in 2015

has confirmed to Windows Central that the Xbox Fitness service included as part of the Xbox One console will continue to offer access to free content for Xbox Live Gold members past the end of December 2014.

When Microsoft first announced Xbox Fitness in September 2013, the company said that paid Xbox Live Gold members would receive free access

to the service, and many of its programs, until the end of December 2014. Indeed, the official Xbox Fitness FAQ still says, "An Xbox Fitness Pass gives you unlimited access to the world's best workouts for free with your Xbox Live Gold membership through December 2014, only on Xbox One."

free games given during Gold membership stopped after subscription ends

X box Live Gold membership gave me free Games with Gold every month: two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360. which I downloaded to my console. My subscription ended on8/8/2018. but all games i downloaded during my subscription are not playable right
now and asking for renew subscription. why this is so.. is free games are not really free

When you “cancel” a subscription, you’ve essentially turned off “auto-renew”.

The $1 promotion you paid for last year should cover an entire month’s worth of time (~30 days), so you’re still able to play online until the Gold subscription actually expires.

That is not the case since the subscription expired already on December 26th (one month completed then).

straight from the back of the trial.At the end of your trial period, your 14 day xbox live gold trial will default to a FREE xbox live membership unless you elect to extrend your xbox live Gold membership. That infers that i should have actual Xbox live
Gold, not silver with multiplayer. so you can see why i'm a little confused

Yes, you certainly can. The bottom of a 2 Day Gold Pass states the following:

XBOX LIVE 2-Day gold Membership, free trial allows access to these Gold features: online multiplayer gaming, Netflix, ESPN on XBOX Live, Facebook, free game demos, exclusive discounts, promotions and video content.

Free 2-day trial offer is only for use on the XBOX 360 and is not valid for current XBOX Live Gold Members. At the end of your 2-day trial period, your membership will default to the FREE XBOX Live Membership, unless you elect to extend your XBOX Live Gold
Membership.

Now what this doesn't tell you is that you cannot play in ranked matches with the trial membership, but you are free to play in social matchmaking playlists for games.
