Xbox Live Gold Code Redeeming Error

So, I bought a 3 month gold card for my account and when I go to redeem it it gives me an error saying that I can't use the selected payment option and to add a new one. I don't understand why, it's a code I'm not trying to buy it. Need some help with this,

I purchased and have received and redeemed the codes for the games but seem to be getting an error code trying to redeem the 12 Month Live code.

I don't know if anyone else already posted the solution to this, but a friend had the same issue with the same error. The problem was, he was trying to redeem a code over a trial gold. Live Gold and Gold Trial, doesn't mix up, that's why the solution is
to let the gold subsciption end and then redeem the code. So if you have a Live Gold and try to redeem a Trial code (like the one included with the xbox) or the other way around, it won't work.

I'm having trouble redeeming Xbox Live Gold 12 months. Returns the code: 801613c9. I've tried with 2 Xbox Live Gold Pre-Paid and did not work, always returns the same error.

ok on the xbox checked subscription only showing xbox live gold (current) and old game pas subscriptions nothing new

been chatting with microsoft gamers chat and they sent me a link to redeem code at microsoft in the right xbox live account

this time got a error code not found first time getting this error
