Xbox live gold Charged automatically

I bought a 3 month xbox gift card and activated it on my account on July 19, 2018. I didn't check about turning auto renew off because I thought that since I dint buy it online, I wouldn't have to turn of auto renew, and I also had it turned off in the
past. I randomly decided to check when it was going to expire today, and found it expired two days ago. When I checked my account online, it said I was going to be charged on the 19th, even though it is the 21st today. So I turned off recurring billing. I
checked my xbox, and I don't have gold anymore, but in my billing history, it shows that I have been charged for 3 months. Is there anything I can do about this? Ive been wanting to buy 12 months of gold, but now I've paid 25 dollars of gold for three months
accidentally, and have lost both 25 dollars and the gold when I turned off auto renew.

How to turn off auto renewal

It is recommended that you cancel your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership using the option of turning off automatic renewal. If auto renewal is "off", your membership will expire at the end of its current term.

Steps to follow:

1) If you are not already signed in, click Sign In at the upper right hand corner and sign in using your Microsoft account.

2) Proceed to My Account.

3) Click Change next to automatic renewal. Change the setting to OFF

You will be able to continue enjoying all the benefits of Xbox LIVE Gold Membership until your paid membership time expires.

Note:

If you want to cancel or disable your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership immediately, you should contact Xbox support. Use the Request a Call from Support option on the official Xbox Contact Us page. Your account cannot be canceled through chat or email.

If you disable your account immediately, you will lose the time remaining on your membership subscription.

If you are on a 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract, and you want to cancel before the end of the 2 years, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and other applicable taxes. Once the two-year agreement period is over, your account will not be renewed automatically.

You can cancel the 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract using the option of self-cancel your subscription on Xbox.com

 

Why did I get charged for gold 3 months and have no gold now?

I recently got charged for 3 months gold but I already got charged last month for 3 month gold membership, im not sure if it's automatic renew but I never got asked only charged for it but now xbox.com and xbox live say I have silver membership when I should
have another 5 months gold?! can someone please help me

I'm sorry to hear that happened. If on your
Order History it states that you've purchased the 3 months and you would still like to convert it to the 12 month subscription. I would suggest to contact Live Support as they can further assist with the billing issue with Xbox Live Gold.

If you use prepaid cards and do not have auto-renew enabled, your subscription will simply end at the end of the prepaid period. Otherwise, it bills you for the period you renewed for at the current rate. Memberships can be stacked, so be sure not to wait until
near the end of a subscription period before adding a new card.

 

To avoid this in the future every time you add time to Xbox live it will automatically turn on recurring billing, every time. I just go in and turn it off when I add time to Xbox live.
