^ What he said, there is Xbox Live Gold cards which are 60 for a year and there are various denominations for credit in the store itself.

If you haven't scratched it off yet you should be good to exchange it.

You would have to contact xbox support at support.xbox.com/contact-us and they would be able to help you.

Since you also haven't got a credit card, your only option for gold when you have the money is to buy a prepaid gold card, which has a 5 by 5 digit code, you scratch off the panel and type the code on either xbox.com or on the xbox itself, and that will
give you so many months of xbox live gold.

Hi, just had the same problem.... 3 letters/numbers were damaged. After some close up inspection with a magnifying glass and torch we figured out 2 of the digits and had a lucky guess on the third after two tries.
