  1. Xbox Live Gold Awards Are Not Usable!

    Hello,

It is the second time when the so called awards that you get with an xbox live account are unusable for me.

This month it is about the Civilization Revolution game.

Trying to get this game online (from my kids account who is the one I bought gold for) did not really work - the kid account is not entitled to buy games, even this is FREE and I tried to hack this past from the xbox and made it an Adult account.

Secondly, trying to get this game for the xbox 360 console did not work either! It said that the game is not available for the region.

Third, I checked my region and realized that the console was bought in Ireland while we are now in Romania. So thought it's my mistake, as I forgot to let xbox now about this change. Did the account change, however still the same problem, "game is not available
    in the region".

As the title of this topic says, this is not actually the first time we cant access this so called advantage.

We missed the previous month game as well because the issue mentioned initially (kid cant buy the game, I wasn't home to use the console for it, and I can't take it from web: the kids account can't buy [FREE] games! and my account doesn't have gold).

I am looking to get the first issue fixed (get the Civilization game for the kid) and then also the second (avoid these confusions in the future).

I am really curious how Microsoft support really works... so I am looking forward for some feedback here.

    :)

  2. Avatar awards are not accessible/usable

I came here to post about this. This is really bugging me. I just unlocked the DOOM II avatar award and wanted to try it on for a bit, always intending on going back to my Lime Green Crackdown 2 suit. I can see all my awards on the website app but it won't
let me save when I equip them. I'm now stuck using a Master Chief avatar. It seems I can still use any 360 avatar items that were bought or were unlocked through a 25 digit code but all awards are locked.

  3. Avatar awards are not accessible/usable

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this but currently my avatar awards are unusable. At the moment they do not even show up on on the XboxOne/Windows10 apps. On my mac I can use the silverlight extension to use the website's customise option
to see them but trying to equip them gives me a error message. I have always been able to use them without my 360 but since I got rid of it recently I can't even check to see if they are there.

There are 2 reasons that you cannot download the game for your son.

    1. You say he is not allowed to download the game. This is more than likely due to his age. The game cannot be downloaded if he is too young. You cannot change the age of an account once it has been set.

    2. You say you live in Romania. As you can see by this link
    www.xbox.com/.../countries
Romania is not on the list of officially Live supported countries. Even changing your gamertag to another country will not help as most downloads are region locked.

  5. Hi onyx62is, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately it doesn't help.

I want to download the game for the son, and as a parent I should be able to do that unless Microsoft implemented the whole family thing in a wrong way.

Plus, what you are saying is that if I changed my location to Romania I will no longer be officially supported by Microsoft. While my yearly subscription is still paid and nothing change on my side. I also do not think this makes sense. Even if i would log
from Mars, as I already have a paid subscription this is not relevant at all.

I am looking for an official Microsoft answer and not personal opinions.

    Thank you

  7. RitzyBiscuit7, I have no idea really. I did everything just to sort this out. My sons account is now "adult" as per my xbox and I have also added 20 more years of age in the windows live account just to solve this problem.

Unfortunately I still get the same classic Microsoft messages when trying to do anything....

Changing the age of the Windows Live account does not change the age on his account. Once an account is created there is no way to change the age. It goes by what you entered when you first created his gamertag.

Also, as onyx said, Romania is not official supported by Live so the game would not have been released there. This game is region locked so the only way to download it is to be in a region where the game is available. So even if the age thing wasn't an issue,
the location would still keep you from downloading the game.

  10. Thank you smwutches. Interesting information about not being able to change the age.

In relation to region locked games - while this is understandable, this should not limit the rights of Xbox Live accounts.

A customer focused company will be able to anticipate such situation and to provide win-win alternative (another, non region locked game??).

Any of you guys know if any Microsoft support is actually handling this site? Or is it xbox users opinions / advice only?

Region locking is usually up to the developers, not Microsoft. It also comes down to rules and regulations in each country as to what is or isn't allowed. Microsoft has given different games for regions where region locked games are not available. However,
since you don't live in a Live supported country, that would still be an issue for you.

There are official support members on the forums, but the forums are largely community based.

  12. Thank you Smwutches. I think what you are saying that there is more trouble to come given I have switched xbox region from Ireland to Romania.

Right. Because you live in a region that is not supported there are a lot of games that were never released there and technically the games with gold program should not be available to you. They also wouldn't offer another game since your region is not supported.

  15. Hey there,

I see this is quite a long thread and many people have tried to assist. However I wanted to just add on your other Question "Does Microsoft handle this site, or is it community members".

    .

The site is managed by Xbox Live, however the forums are where the community help each other out. If there is an issue that Xbox thinks the OP is still having an issue,. then the Forum Support Agents will attend the thread. These agents are based in America
and operate 8am to 5pm Pacific time. This is why Microsoft uses the forums as the community can offer many different opinions and troubleshooting steps. This is also an important part of the Community forums. That's what they say in forums.microsoft.com anyway.

    .

Now, with your question. If your son has Family settings, you may want to try changing them by:

    1. Signing onto his account

    2. Scrolling right to the settings tab

    3. Clicking on Family settings

This will present you with options where you can set permissions on what your son can do. Including if he can buy games on the Xbox Live Market Place. However, you still have the problem with region locked content, and there for I can't think of what you
can do, appart from move into a region that is supported. You would need to contact the developer for more options.

    .

If you would like to contact Microsoft, please go to
    https://support.xbox.com
then click onto Contact us. You will then be able to fill out a short form. Then chat with a Microsoft Support Agent.

    .

Please note I do not work for Microsoft nor Xbox.

    .

    Regards
