    xbox live gold and microsoft accounts?


    I have a membership to Xbox live gold. How do "turn it on"? My kids can't seem to play any games that need an online membership/multiplayer because I have somehow turned this feature off, but I definitely have a valid subscription. Also, can you please
    include instructions to 1) ensure that it will be active for both of my childrens "gamer tags".

    2) Does each gamer tag need a unique email address to collect points or save scores within a game? Does my five year old need an email address?? Microsoft has asked me to create an email/account for my 9 year old? What is the point. I want to add my 5
    year old to my "family". Now Microsoft wants me to create an email address for this new family member? Is this necessary to access any Xbox content?

    Thanks in advance for anyone how can help with this.
