Xbox live games (NTSC / PAL)

I made the mistake and bought a PAL game for my console only to discover this thing about regions and games being locked into it.... so i was wondering, if i bought the game on Xbox Live, does it have to be Pal or NTSC? or it doesnt matter?

xBox PAL or NTSC?

Hey Everyone,

I am planning to buy xBox but I have some confusions and seek some advice in this regards.

1. Upon search I found xBox360 is region locked. Some PAL games doesn't work on NTSC and vice versa. I also found many people prefer having NTSC over PAL. I live in Middle-east where PAL xBox and games are available but my xBox account is US. So will my
account work on PAL xBox360? Also, I won MW3 elite and collection codes, will those map packs be playable on PAL xBox with PAL MW3 retail game?

Plus, what are you suggestion which one should I get? PAL or NTSC?

ngocphi: I can assure you it XBL Content goes by NTSC and PAL. By experience. Anyway, keep confirming this won't make my game work.

Buy a PAL Xbox if you live in america or NTSC Xbox if you live in Europe, then you will see.

When the xbox doesn't match the region (NTSC or PAL) of the game, it won't even let you buy it. Won't even charge you for trying.

Anyway, agree with this guy AngryHelios, it's not only this game and not only one person, so...

Let's just wait and see what microsoft will do about it

 

If you mean games you buy off the marketplace, they will automatically be in the region of your console/account you don`t get to choose.

Some disc games will work on the opposite region of your console but definitely not all of them, there is probably a list online somewhere.

 

Ok so the game i wanted to buy, i can buy it online here, and they said that it would start downloading as soon as the console was turned on and signed into xbox live, so im guessing that once its available to download, there wouldn't be any problems? and

but buying a game on the marketplace, does region matter?

 

Yes, you can buy it from here or directly from your console.

 

thanks alot, because i waited like 3 weeks for a game to reach, only to realize that it doesnt work on my console.... you could imagine how annoying that felt..... but thanks.... so buying it online here and downloading it straght to my console is the best
option right?

 

I have always bought direct from my console, you really don`t need to use this site at all.

 

if its on this site, but not on my console marketplace, then does that mean i wont be able to get it?

 

Scroll to the bottom of this page and in the bottom left corner it should say the region of the site you are in, this should match your account/console.

Everything on the site will be on your console.

ok, so the game is not my region, it says saudi arabia... i dont understand why this online download would be region designated ...... could i still buy it?

 

What is your physical location and what is the location you've put on your account?

If they don't match then you'll have trouble downloading digital content.

 

trinidad and tobago which falls under the United states, and my account is registered under United States also..... but the game i want to buy isnt on the US live marketplace, i saw it on the saudi arabia live marketplace..... what to do?
