Xbox Live Gamertag Changed

Hello,

My Xbox Live gamertag was recently force changed to a new name that I did not get to choose. In order to change my name again, I'm required to pay $9.99. Considering that my name was changed against my will and without warning, the 9.99 fee feels quite unfair.
I'm hoping for any Xbox Live support to review my case and allow me to change my name again now that it has been reset.

It cost $10 to change your Gamertag on Xbox Live.

Also, congrats on the good price. Are you one of those people who are always able to get like $500 worth of groceries for $50.25?

A gtag change is enforced by the XBLPET when your gtag violates the Code of Conduct and xbox live service rules. To change your gtag again you must pay a fee.

You were warned.The Terms of Use & Code of Conduct you agreed to when starting your account is your warning.

You also agreed that if you receive a forced name change that you are given a randomly generated tag for free,if you want to change the tag you are given then you will have to pay a fee.

The txt quoted is in the section which yes has the Windows LIVE section below, but at the top clearly states Xbox 360 Console:

Go to Social, and then select your gamertag.

Select Change Gamertag.

Note the Price of the change, and do one of the following:

Select Enter New Gamertag. If the gamertag you enter is already taken, you will be prompted to try another gamertag.

Select Get Suggestions to view possible gamertags.

Once you enter or select a new gamertag, select Yes, use this gamertag.

Note Click Add Microsoft Points if you don’t have enough points to complete the purchase.

Once you confirm your new gamertag, the change is reflected across Xbox LIVE. You don’t need to tell your friends that you changed your gamertag — their friends lists will be updated automatically."

Again a clear statement from Microsoft, it should be honoured not dismissed.

Free changes are only given if you have a randomly generated tag and not one of your choosing (in addition to only having the account for 30 days). Since you have a gamertag that you chose, the free change would not apply to you even if you were within the
30 days.
