Hi

Sorry if this answer has been given before - but I have a 7 year old and an 8 year old niece who want to play each other online - now can other players add them? or can they play safely ?

Can my children have access to xbox live if I have the subcription or do they need to have thier own subscribtion for thier microsoft account?

They can access xbox live only through your gamertag because it is the only one with access to it. If they want their own gamertags to access live, they will need a paid subscription.

To add to what has already been said (assuming that the parent has the Xbox Live account) set the Xbox that the children will be using as the Xbox Live Account holders (parents) "My Home Xbox" then the parent account can sign out and the children can use
the Live and any games (deemed suitable) that are on the parent account. You as the account holder can then sign in on the other Xbox and use that to play your games and use Live
